AT&T Note 2 Owners READ THIS!

Hey guys, so I was browsing on xda-developers and came across this thread:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1976429&page=14

Pretty much a bunch of people were able to contact AT&T and get a price-match in the form of a $100 credit to their account when stating that Walmart was advertising the Note 2 for $199 while AT&T sold it to them for $299.

Just wanted to report that I did contact AT&T and after a couple of tries I was connected (Live Chat) to an agent that credited me $100 as a 'one time courtesy' within minutes.

I pretty much stated that I was upset to find out that I could not pre-order the white model when the stores received them on launch dates. That I was upset that AT&T rebranded this phone and also took out the headphones, which every other carrier left in the box. Also the box I received had a broken seal already, even though the phone and the contents were in perfect condition. Also told them that I read on xda-developers that they were able to get a price-match in the form of a credit which is why I was contacting them. Told them I have been a loyal customer since 2002.

The second agent I spoke to gave me a credit no problem. The first agent transferred me a total of 2 times, both times getting further away from a resolution.

This may be a repost, but who can complain about a repost when it is about getting $100?

By the way.

You are now chatting with 'Ann Smith'
me: hello
Ann Smith: Hi me, thank you for chatting with AT&T today. I can help you with your concern today.
Ann Smith: May I know what is your galaxy note concern?
Ann Smith: Thank you.
me: yes i am contacting you today because i have been with at&t for some time now and have just purchased 2 of your new galaxy note 2 for me and my wife from your online store but have come to find out walmart are selling the phone for $199 and i was told i could get a price match
Ann Smith: I see. I am sorry about this. Let me check what is the best thing I can do to resolve your issue.
me: thank you
Ann Smith: Thank you for waiting. As I've checked here, Walmart is a third party retailer and the pricing that they have is really different to the prices that we have here in AT&T.
me: yes they are so could you explain what that means im confused
Ann Smith: Walmart is not under AT&T so they sometimes make independent promotions like discounts for customers.
me: ok so there is nothing you could do for me?
Ann Smith: But rest assured that you made a good deal with AT&T in purchasing the phones. In fact, we have standard quality checking for all products that we send to customers to ensure that you will get the best value for your money.
me: ok thanks for your time

I am sure a lot of agents will not give you the credit. Be persistent. I talked to 4 agents before I finally got the 100 credit. Took about 20 minutes. And I am not a new member.

I also got 36 credit for my activation fee a few days back. Dont give up!

Tell them that they will loose a loyal customer for every one of the new, UN-verfied customers they are trying to lure in.

I was very skeptical about this at first, called 611 this morning and talked to an agent. I said I was a bit disappointed that after pre ordering the phone, I saw it being sold for less at bestbuy ebay and walmart days after launch. I had to give her the best buy ebay number and took 20 minutes on the phone. I got the $75 discount that BB offered plus $36 activation fee credited to my next bill. I did NOT get a straight refund and I already purchased the phone when I called, YMMV.

I was amazed though that it turned out the way it did!

I got my Note 2 from an AT&T store, not online. So I should be able to get this deal no problem. I asked the at&t rep about upcoming deals and he said I have 15 days for any price adjustments. Even if I have to return the phone and pay the $35 restocking fee, I still save some $...

I would have tried it if I didn't just called them a few days ago to get $100 back on each of my 2 Note II. When I bought them, I paid $399 each because the website did not give me the $100 instant rebate. It took me forever just to get them to refund me the $100 x2 which I should not have to pay when I pre-ordered.

I am sure if I call now they would just say... hey didn't we just credited you $200? :p

I tried with three AT&T agents so far, all refused to offer a rebate

Don't give up! Tell them walmart was offering it for $199 and a bunch of people on XDA-DEVELOPERS were able to get a credit to next bill to compensate for the $100 difference! Tell them the only thing keeping you with AT&T has been good customer service, but that competitors are offering this phone for less.

I spent an hour already on hold and talking to the AT&T customer support agents.

But the Note 2 is such a good phone and due to the excellent AT&T coverage in my area and GSM phones - I'm sticking with AT&T

Not going to sweat it myself.

I went to the AT&T store yesterday and pointed out it's only 199 through Amazon Wireless.
Response: "We don't do price matching."

Unfortunately, Amazon is now showing "Currently unavailable" when 2 days ago it was showing backordered.

Just to put my $0.02 on this. I DID manage to get AT&T to credit me the difference for my phone YAY! I paid $299 for mine and Amazon currently has it on sale for $174.99 despite it being backordered. I had to call AT&T about 6 different times but, ultimately, they gave me the credit for the difference in pricing. What's better is that I was supposed to get $125 credited to my account however they actually credited me $150. Super stoked. Keep at it folks and don't give up. You can get yours too if you're diligent enough.
