Hey everyone! First time poster. I've been lurking for sometime and wanted to tell everyone THANK YOU for all of your great information. It's people like all of you that make this thread INCREDIBLE. I too cannot wait for this phone to be released so I can come on here and pick all of your brains for information and answers to the tons of questions I'll have! If I come across any good information I'll try to help out. Thanks again and most importantly

INCREDIBLE FTW! ;)

Whatever Probie

Not being an ass, but why would you want to get this phone without a data plan anyway? I know it has wi-fi and all, but that would be damn inconvenient when you were out and wanted to know something.

We get this question all day long and it's mind-boggling to me.

Some users might have Wifi access most of the time, and think the $30 a month isn't worth the extra convenience of having data access all the time, but they want their phone, MP3 player, Camera, and email machine to be integrated into one device.

Just cause this is not your situation, doesn't mean a lot of people would like it this way.

Edit: There's also places where even VZW doesn't have great 3G coverage, and instead of paying for unreliable 3G coverage, just go with no 3G coverage, and use Wifi.

only n00bs are new to this thread. Us 1337 hax0r posters have been here since IRC days.;)

It's gonna be pretty sweet once this phone launches and everyone picks one up... Everyone's "devices" is gonna update so fast! It'll say, "HTC Thought It'd Never Get Here" :D I MEAN, "HTC Incredible" for all of us :)

i wonder if when everyone gets it, if we'll all just post on this thread about questions and stuff. I for one, enjoy this thread so much i don't ever want it to end. lol

This is a bit of a detour, but it has to do w/ my planning for the Incredible, so please humor me:

My wife and I are both out of contract at this point. I'll upgrade to the Inc, she to something like the EnV Touch. We currently have the 700min plan plus separate texting packages. I know that the upgrades will result in smartphone and dumbphone packages totaling $40 extra per month.

I just made the mistake of checking Sprint's offerings on the off-chance that I test-drive an EVO by the time the Inc is ever released. Holy crap, their prices seem to have gotten even better. Ex:

VZW: 700 min+$10 txt pkg + $5 txt pkg + smartphonedata + dumbdata = $125 month

Sprint: 1500 min + unltd data for both phones + unltd text = $130!

That means I could get her a smartphone too for just $5 more a month and get unlimited texting w/ double the minutes. The same setup on Verizon would cost me ~$180. When is Verizon going to come up w/ a realistic Family Data plan, and how can there be such a huge difference between these carrier rates?

Does Sprint really roam on Verizon reliably?

Actually the same set up with 700 min = 99.00. With two smartphones it would be 159.00 a month. If you are going to do a smartphone and a semi smart phone you would pay roughly 145.00- 29.99 for the smartphone and 15.00 for the vzpak which gives the other phone full internet access including (for the env touch)- email, vcast, and Vznavigator.

In addition- you should check out Verizons discounts- I didn't know it for a while but many companies have contracts with Verizon and you work with them you can get a discount. Since I am a government employee I get a 15% discount.

Hope this helps
DS

Can you not just renew for another year or 2 online and keep your same plan? I almost got the Droid when it was released and was going to do this to keep my old Alltel plan. I went through the steps on Verizon's website and it looked like it would work. I also planned on doing this when the Incredible is finally released.
I've asked this question a few times and gotten different answers each time...90% of the in store Verizon reps don't understand their job description, much less the process for keeping my Alltel plan, so rather than dealing with incompetence and causing myself to stroke out with eRage, I don't ask anymore...I just pay the full price for the device and leave as quickly as possible.

I think you can just resign you existing contract and get the 2 yr pricing. That's what I will do when the inc comes. Any VZW employees want to confirm or deny this?

I've gone to 2 different corporate verizon stores and one said I could (as long as I didn't buy a blackberry) and the other said I couldn't.

try calling customer service (I think that have a retention dept). usually more knowledgeable and willing to work with you.

Oh god the call centers lol...That in its self is like calling the backstage phone for the circus...Nothing but clown shoes and douche-baggy pants

By "same setup" I meant the same number of min that Sprint's plan afforded, which was 1500. I just confirmed all of these numbers via Chat w/ VZW and the support person could basically only nod silently at the $50 difference per month. Wow.

She did offer the dumbphone option to save on data, but I explained that I felt silly paying more for a dumbphone w/ them than a smartphone would cost me w/ Sprint. I don't know, we'll see.

And I get a discount w/ either carrier through work so that doesn't help influence my decision.

I wonder if vzw reps are now "playing" with the Incredible. We're now less that 2 weeks away from, what I've always thought to be the release date, of April 16th.

In the stores, we don't play with the phones until the launch kit comes to the store usually. And that happens about 1 week before launch, atleast it did with the Droid. We haven't gotten anything on it yet in the store.

This is important. Our family plan would be close to $200 a month (5 lines and unlimited text) but I get a 23% discount with Verizon. On the other hand I get a 25% discount with AT&T (not sure about Sprint). So really, everyone should just go find out if they get a discount through their cell carriers :)

i second that.
What happens when Verizon actually comes out to speak about the Incredible and says "HAHA JUST KIDDING" and they never intended to release the phone...What if the shots of the Cellbright devices were all just a clever ploy to screw with us?

Out of curiosity, what discounts do you get?

I predict that one week from today all reps will be advising people who want a better phone to wait for the 16th. We'll know what's up in 1 week.

i think i would go on a murderous rampage at verizon corporate. then head to over to google and hijack a crate of nexus ones and pass them out to everyone in this thread, since it is probably gonna be most peoples second choice to the incredible.
