Ok....FWIW...I went to a Verizon store in my local area. Was looking at maybe picking up a Moto Droid while I wait for the HTC Incredible to be released....got into a discussion with three different reps, including the store manager. One of the reps has been following the HTC Incredible for some time and stated that he thought it was supposed to be released on March 25th, but that at the last minute, Corporate decided to push the release till Mid April. The Store Manager told me that he'd be happy to set me up with a Droid, but that I might want to wait on the "new android handset" that will be released on April 16th. He said he didn't know which handset it was, but that it was a new android phone.

Once again...a CSR story that doesn't carry much weight, but points to things we have already heard. Take it as you like it.

+1 for HemorrDroid:D

VZW policy is very straight forward. Within the first 30 days a device is returned or warrantied by the agent (Best Buy). After 30 days ALL WARRANTY ISSUES are handled by VZW. PERIOD. I bet my four years of wireless experience on it.

Can they handle existing accounts and NE2 upgrades as well?

Haha! So YOU'RE the reason that name was taken when I signed up. Damn you... :D

I love these CSR stories, keep em' coming. Nexus or Inc, ill take whatever at this point. I just want a new phone to be announced so we have something new to talk about. I'll definitely wait for Inc but at I feel like we'd be making progress if the nexus were announced.

Hi everyone, I'm new. Thanks so much for everything over the last few months! I've been following since January. Wow... back then... I was certain I'd have SOMETHING in my hands by April.

Anyway, I was wondering if this was discussed here? It is all over the VZW Forums:

4/1/10 "I spent most of all day yesterday on the phone and waiting for return phone calls from Verizon. I will have to admit that they did answer all of my questions.
The 2.1 is out for the Moto Droid. It is being put out in 25,000 groups. From what I understand. He might have said 250,000, I am not sure. I would assume the older customers are going to be upgraded first.
Now for the bad news. Us Eris users. HTC told this rep that the 2.1 would be available no later than the end of April. It should be sooner, but they couldn't promise that. How it will be sent out, they are not sure yet. They are sure it will be sent out in "blocks" but nothing on how many at a time yet.
For those waiting for the Incredible. HTC is still testing it. They have till June to finish the testing and promote the phone. Verizon has not accepted the phone yet and not sure they even will take it. Depends on the results of the testing.
They have no plans even if they do accept it to offer it as an upgrade as of now. So... the Eris users are the ones that get the shaft this time if Verizon does pick up the Incredible."

Any validity here? I sure hope not! Please tell me that I'm foolish for even considering believing something just because it is written somewhere and that this is total nonsense!

Thanks everyone!

i'm not gonna put much stock into it since we have seen that the Incredible is already in Verizons systems, which means they have accepted it.

Yes, the unlimited data plan for most of the 3G phones is $29.95 but well worth it in my estimation. Blackberry Exchange users pay around $44.99 per month for the privilege of syncing their Microsoft Exchange Inbox, Calendar, Contacts and Tasks. If Exchange is not a necessity then Blackberry users can get a $29.95 unlimited data plan and use pop mail.

But people from alltel had a MUCH better deal. We got unlimited data and text for $40 for ALL people on your plan. So if you have 5 smartphones, $40 more for everyone to have unlimited text and data.

EDIT: That included blackberries as well, and anything like exchange was free.

I know, that's why I still have my Alltel plan while using VZW phones. $130 for 2 lines txt, data, 12 free numbers, and 500 mins is great.

Excellent post Montana. I was just going to say the same thing. I find it funny how a majority of the people claiming "BS" are people who have not contributed a single thing to this thread, yet have the nerve to try and call out people. I remember when this thread first started, we welcomed everyones contributions (and I know we've had some longgggg nights of trying to find anything we could, without any fear of being called a liar. Been on here since the Passion forum days, and registered when this thread was created, having posted several of my own contributions, I can attest that the attitude now is completely different) without having some sort of backlash.

Unfortunately that's because opinions are like a__holes around here, everyone has one. The unfortunate part is most people in this thread feel they have to share their's. (ewwww lol). But you and Montana are spot on, people in this thread are quick to 'bite the hand that feeds them.'

None-the-less, I've followed my share of phones over the years over at hofo, and like it or not people, I haven't seen a phone that I'VE been interested in ever release without first showing up in BB systems.

Most people around here seem to 'know someone' that works in a verizon store and feel that makes their info 'good', and think because of this they are some sort of authority to discredit other folks input, but we all know, info out of these verizon stores, especially 'authorized resellers' has been the least accurate info posted in this forum. The best info has come from people with corporate contacts or people who know testers, period.

Sure there's acceptions where people who work for a verizon store have had good info, but those folks are not the same folks screaming 'foul' every time someone tries to share info. I'm sure april fools really put people on the defense, but overall, people need to lighten up and be less critical or those who get info might stop sharing and we may miss a valuable piece of info.

Me personally, I'm interested in the April 17th date that's been thrown around, it fit's with the expiration of the Driod BOGO mailer I got the other day of 4/15/10. I just don't see verizon releasing this phone while other offers to offload other phones are valid.

Thanks to ALL that contribute, good info or bad, I think about 99% of those sharing have good intentions, so, I salute you all of you!!:D

Yeah, this is why I pay full price for my new handsets, if I stay with Verizon, over the long run, I'll save money over using one of Verizon's over priced plans.

I think you can just resign you existing contract and get the 2 yr pricing. That's what I will do when the inc comes. Any VZW employees want to confirm or deny this?

Can you not just renew for another year or 2 online and keep your same plan? I almost got the Droid when it was released and was going to do this to keep my old Alltel plan. I went through the steps on Verizon's website and it looked like it would work. I also planned on doing this when the Incredible is finally released.

Hey everyone! First time poster. I've been lurking for sometime and wanted to tell everyone THANK YOU for all of your great information. It's people like all of you that make this thread INCREDIBLE. I too cannot wait for this phone to be released so I can come on here and pick all of your brains for information and answers to the tons of questions I'll have! If I come across any good information I'll try to help out. Thanks again and most importantly

INCREDIBLE FTW! ;)

This is a bit of a detour, but it has to do w/ my planning for the Incredible, so please humor me:

My wife and I are both out of contract at this point. I'll upgrade to the Inc, she to something like the EnV Touch. We currently have the 700min plan plus separate texting packages. I know that the upgrades will result in smartphone and dumbphone packages totaling $40 extra per month.

I just made the mistake of checking Sprint's offerings on the off-chance that I test-drive an EVO by the time the Inc is ever released. Holy crap, their prices seem to have gotten even better. Ex:

VZW: 700 min+$10 txt pkg + $5 txt pkg + smartphonedata + dumbdata = $125 month

Sprint: 1500 min + unltd data for both phones + unltd text = $130!

That means I could get her a smartphone too for just $5 more a month and get unlimited texting w/ double the minutes. The same setup on Verizon would cost me ~$180. When is Verizon going to come up w/ a realistic Family Data plan, and how can there be such a huge difference between these carrier rates?

Does Sprint really roam on Verizon reliably?

welcome to the forum! ;)
you'll soon find out we're all great friends and get along great and we only talk about official confirmed news.

Folks,

If I get an incredible, am I REQUIRED to carry a data plan on it? I.E. Can activate with the smart phone data plan, but then later roll it back to just voice?

Thanks in advance,
-Darke

Not being an ass, but why would you want to get this phone without a data plan anyway? I know it has wi-fi and all, but that would be damn inconvenient when you were out and wanted to know something.

We get this question all day long and it's mind-boggling to me.

Perhaps reasons why higher up's or even managers of verizon stores not leaking info if they know anything about the "Incredible"

1. Verizon tells all in the know, you leak info, you lose your job.

2. How many Managers or even higher up's actually troll the internet wanting to leak info about phones? when they do this for a job all day long, probably not interested in looking at cell phone sites about info they may or may not already have or how to leak it.

3. Why risk it? even if its a slight risk to leak info, Probably not the best idea if you would get caught.

4. Get caught and then fired, then when you use Verizon as a job reference to get your next job ...

Verizon Job Reference: It says you were fired due to breaking Confidentiality Agreements / Trade Secrets ... probably not a great reference to have if you want to get a higher end job, would you hire them?

I think most if not all of leaks "do not" come from higher ups ... I think they actually come from people that are in the right place at the right time that dont have risk, which is where alot of the stuff on this forum come from.

You're right on the money there. There are people who have to sign an NDA because they know about devices that are coming out up to next year. Fortunately, I know those guys pretty well ;)

About Damn time!

It's gonna be pretty sweet once this phone launches and everyone picks one up... Everyone's "devices" is gonna update so fast! It'll say, "HTC Thought It'd Never Get Here" :D I MEAN, "HTC Incredible" for all of us :)
