So I am eating my Easter dinner in the early afternoon and............BOOM...............a 7.2 earthquake hits in Baja California. It is felt all the way in Southern California where I am. I thought maybe Verizon announced the Incredible and the world was now coming to an end. I thought I would never get a chance to see the phone I have been waiting so long for.

Nope. It was just another earthquake in So Cal. Cmon Verizon! Lets get this thing Done already!
+1!

So much misinformation in this thread it's unbelievable. I do work for Verizon and let me clear a few things up... iBowToAndroid, if you work for Verizon, quit. In the first 30 days, if it wasn't purchased from a corporate store, it needs to go back to the place of purchase. After the 30 days, Verizon will be the ones to honor the warranty. The ONLY exception is if you get a phone from Asurion. If they replace it when you make a lost/stolen/damaged claim, they then honor the warranty. I hope that's cleared up.

Secondly, I don't know if you all are aware but the FRU policy is no longer in effect once you are out of your 1 year manufacture warranty. If you didn't choose insurance, extended warranty, or TEC (combination of both), you will have the option to upgrade or get a CPO (certified pre-owned). It's a price that is more than 1 year pricing but less than full retail. EnV Touch's go for about $179. With that, you get a phone that has been completely checked out and confirmed working, battery, back cover, charger and a 1 year warranty on that. You also have the option to purchase insurance on that CPO as well. This just changed on April 1st.

Depends who you talk to. Some people will openly talk about it, more so the Tech's. But we are supposed to tell you "I cannot confirm nor deny..." but honestly, you guys will know about things before we do in the store. Now, that doesn't mean that some of us don't read the forums and know what you guys know so we can talk about it to customers :) We aren't really given info about new phones until a few days before launch unless you go looking for it in systems and things.

I have one thing to add to this that happen to my wife not to long ago. She ordered a new BB Storm online from the VerizonWireless website. As you know the BB Storms have lots of issues (atleast hers does). After she got it she started having problems with the screen and charging it. She went to a corporate store near us to get help with it and she was told. "You purchased this from Asurion and it is not a new phone you will have to contact them about it?" She told me she almost put the phone down the CSR's throught after some yelling at them they did the right thing (she's had it replaced 5 times now because of screen and charging issues)

Anyways what I'm saying here is I would not trust Verizon Wireless as far as I could throw them for anything they have always been very very shady took me 6 months to get a $100 credit from them. When I bought my omnia it was $99 with my NE2 the next week it was $50 I asked for my money back they said no problem but instead of giving me $50 off my bill they charged me $50 and then 6 months later I finally was able to get them to fix it.

Can't relate, honestly have never had a serious issue with service. They don't have all the answers and have had to do some research on my own to resolve an issue but overall, they have been pretty good.

Have had billing issues but they have resolved them immediately. Overall, we have been pleased with Verizon Wireless coverage and service for the 9 years we have been with them.

My 14hr work day ends in an hour. I hope when i wake up it will be a news filled day covering the incredible announcement.

Good luck to everyone f5'ing all day today.

The Evergreen page shows an FM radio as "confirmed", and chromicant found some hints that the Incredible would have an FM radio:
Some APKs that seem interesting:

FlashLitePlugin.apk
TVOUT.apk (Would lend credence to the kernel symbols I found)
HtcFMRadio.apk
But iBowToAndroid's third pic in this post didn't flag FM Stereo Radio with a Y.

What do we think this means?

It didn't have an "N" either like some other fields. I think the blanks are just unknown at this time.

Folks,

If I get an incredible, am I REQUIRED to carry a data plan on it? I.E. Can activate with the smart phone data plan, but then later roll it back to just voice?

Thanks in advance,
-Darke

Yes, you are required to keep the plan for the life of the contract. They did away with the option of letting you cancel quite a while ago.

Hi Darke,

Verizon will NOT allow you to carry a voice only plan on any smartphone. Also most would argue that that the data plan is required to fully enjoy a great smartphone like this. I hope this helps.

It's just amazing to me that rumors of this phone began back when the Droid was first released. January was "guaranteed". It's now April, almost 6 months since the Droid's release, and we still don't have a powerful slate android phone. Seems like a pretty simple starting point for a phone designer.

Further, when all of these in-the-know pro's and blog-owners were under the impression that the Incredible would debut at CTIA, how can it still be mia almost 2 weeks later? What is going on with this thing? It's making the short wait between its release and a new iPhone announcement or free EVO tryout shorter and easier every day.

Verizon, for once, act like you have some sense and get this phone out there.

As others have said, VZW has had the manditory data plan in place for smartphones for some time. Now that more of their phones have Wi-Fi capability VZW gets paid even if you use the Wi-Fi and don't use their network for data. I don't think you would see Wi-Fi on their phones if they weren't getting paid for a data plan..

By the way, using Wi-Fi benefits VZW and the end user by relieving some of the bandwidth stress on their network and the end user gets a faster connection in most cases.

Yes, the unlimited data plan for most of the 3G phones is $29.95 but well worth it in my estimation. Blackberry Exchange users pay around $44.99 per month for the privilege of syncing their Microsoft Exchange Inbox, Calendar, Contacts and Tasks. If Exchange is not a necessity then Blackberry users can get a $29.95 unlimited data plan and use pop mail.

Hi everyone, I'm new. Thanks so much for everything over the last few months! I've been following since January. Wow... back then... I was certain I'd have SOMETHING in my hands by April.

Anyway, I was wondering if this was discussed here? It is all over the VZW Forums:

4/1/10 "I spent most of all day yesterday on the phone and waiting for return phone calls from Verizon. I will have to admit that they did answer all of my questions.
The 2.1 is out for the Moto Droid. It is being put out in 25,000 groups. From what I understand. He might have said 250,000, I am not sure. I would assume the older customers are going to be upgraded first.
Now for the bad news. Us Eris users. HTC told this rep that the 2.1 would be available no later than the end of April. It should be sooner, but they couldn't promise that. How it will be sent out, they are not sure yet. They are sure it will be sent out in "blocks" but nothing on how many at a time yet.
For those waiting for the Incredible. HTC is still testing it. They have till June to finish the testing and promote the phone. Verizon has not accepted the phone yet and not sure they even will take it. Depends on the results of the testing.
They have no plans even if they do accept it to offer it as an upgrade as of now. So... the Eris users are the ones that get the shaft this time if Verizon does pick up the Incredible."

Any validity here? I sure hope not! Please tell me that I'm foolish for even considering believing something just because it is written somewhere and that this is total nonsense!

Thanks everyone!

I feel you. I am tired of the Droid commercials and ads. Actually, all those make me do is think of the N1/Incredible. I know that something a lot better exists out there and VZW is scheduled to receive it. The wait is killing me though.

Slightly OT:
I just discovered the SNesoid app for Android. How awesome is that? Considering I own about 35 snes games, I wont feel guilty downloading ROM's ;) Now I know whats going to kill my battery.

No shooting the messenger. Thank you for the information. I sure hope they accept it sooner than June!

I've been watching both forums on and off (first post here), and from what I've seen, it's just this one guy at the VZW forums who keeps posting the statement you quoted over and over again. Whether or not it has any credence, I don't know, but that poster is the only one I've seen post that information.

It would be just as valid as most of the junk put on here. Its also logical Eris owners would be upgraded to 2.1 before the Incredible comes out.

Perhaps reasons why higher up's or even managers of verizon stores not leaking info if they know anything about the "Incredible"

1. Verizon tells all in the know, you leak info, you lose your job.

2. How many Managers or even higher up's actually troll the internet wanting to leak info about phones? when they do this for a job all day long, probably not interested in looking at cell phone sites about info they may or may not already have or how to leak it.

3. Why risk it? even if its a slight risk to leak info, Probably not the best idea if you would get caught.

4. Get caught and then fired, then when you use Verizon as a job reference to get your next job ...

Verizon Job Reference: It says you were fired due to breaking Confidentiality Agreements / Trade Secrets ... probably not a great reference to have if you want to get a higher end job, would you hire them?

I think most if not all of leaks "do not" come from higher ups ... I think they actually come from people that are in the right place at the right time that dont have risk, which is where alot of the stuff on this forum come from.

Ok....FWIW...I went to a Verizon store in my local area. Was looking at maybe picking up a Moto Droid while I wait for the HTC Incredible to be released....got into a discussion with three different reps, including the store manager. One of the reps has been following the HTC Incredible for some time and stated that he thought it was supposed to be released on March 25th, but that at the last minute, Corporate decided to push the release till Mid April. The Store Manager told me that he'd be happy to set me up with a Droid, but that I might want to wait on the "new android handset" that will be released on April 16th. He said he didn't know which handset it was, but that it was a new android phone.

Once again...a CSR story that doesn't carry much weight, but points to things we have already heard. Take it as you like it.
