ATT is in bed with the NCAA tourney, so I don't see that likely.....expect to see more Luke Wilson playing horse though.
Urgh, I can't stand those commercials...Luke isn't bad at basketball, its just that he's gained like 120lbs since making Old School

EVO is rumored to have more RAM than Incredible. Rumor is 8-10 GB total, so probably something like 1GB RAM plus 8MB flash (movinand).

Apparently Sprint's agreement with HTC is: "whatever the Incredible gets, the EVO gets more."

I'm kidding.

Maybe.

technically, I believe the moviNAND is not considered RAM, but is built-in storage. others may be able to correct my premise...

since the EVO runs the 1Ghz snapdragon, it would probably be limited to 4GB of actual RAM due to it being a 32-bit processor. again, if others know differently, please chime in - always wanting to know the facts on these things...

just curious, how do you get unlimited data for $15? are you grandfathered into an old agreement, or...?

The Dare only requires a $10 data plan, and the vcast vpak is $15 which includes access to their vcast videos and also happens to come with unlimited data. It's no longer available to add to your plan online but I just called and asked for it. This was a while ago so idunno if they still have it.

I decided to get the Droid to tide me over until the Incredible comes out and so far it's a decent device. There are plenty of things that could use a change/upgrade but until the Incredible drops it's a good enough fix for me.

does it have 2.1 pre-installed?

Someone posted earlier that they have 2200 stores, but there was also a theory that the number in warehouse was number of cases rather than individual handsets. I wouldn't worry about a shortage. If you're on this thread, you'll probably be there waiting for them to unlock the doors the morning of release like most of us :D
Hahaha, oh yeah you know it, unless it breaks online first which I think it will. (Besides, I like those instant online discounts instead of waiting for those rebates coming through the snail mail.)

I've seen Sprint and Verizon commercials during the tourney. That's a CBS thing not a NCAA thing. Who knows???
OK, but I don't see why you'd plan a big ad campaign on other channels when everyone will be watching the network that doesn't show them?

Basically saying that they're gonna have a big release because of the NCAA championship doesn't make sense.

Hope these help a little. If not then PM me and I can go into more detail.

How AT&T's marketing team isnt fired.. that guy is so annoying and those commercials are so stupid.. They really make me actually think less of AT&T's network
Because the smug users on ATT love it. They aren't marketing to new customers, they are using it as customer retention.

We don't need to start this discussion again. :) I was simply trying to compare apples-to-apples. The Incredible is rumored to be getting 500MB RAM and 6GB on-board storage. The EVO is rumored to be getting at least 1GB RAM and at least 8GB on-board storage.

Perhaps that is a "more accurate" way of stating what I already said above.

I find it hilarious that AT&T can't advertise its best device (iPhone) so it has to attempt to advertise its network....which we all know is terrible. Makes for some pretty amusing commercials. I love the crappy phones they always advertise on the commercials too, priceless.

I see your point. Just looking for a glimmer of hope, that's all.:o

Exactly, It's much cheaper to keep a customer than get new ones...

Hear that Verizon?? Release my phone!! Keep me as a customer!

I'm curious if any forum members go with the messaging/data-only plan for $54.99/mth on Verizon? Calls would be $.25/min, but for those that mostly text, this plan may be A LOT cheaper than going with the lowest voice plan $39.99, add data $29.99, then add text - either $5/$10/$20 depending on how many you plan on using.

Text Only Messaging Plans from Verizon Wireless

I'm considering this option when I go to The Incredible and would appreciate hearing any pro's and con's.

Thanks in advance!

There's no reason for a phone even a smartphone to have 4GB of RAM at this point, ROM on the other hand is a different story and that is storage just like the iPhone/iPod Touch have 8-64GB of storage.

By "same setup" I meant the same number of min that Sprint's plan afforded, which was 1500. I just confirmed all of these numbers via Chat w/ VZW and the support person could basically only nod silently at the $50 difference per month. Wow.

She did offer the dumbphone option to save on data, but I explained that I felt silly paying more for a dumbphone w/ them than a smartphone would cost me w/ Sprint. I don't know, we'll see.

And I get a discount w/ either carrier through work so that doesn't help influence my decision.

I'm kind of in your same boat. Hugely disproportionate rates have consistently eroded the last decade's worth of VZW brand loyalty. At this point, I'm not traveling outside of major-metropolitan areas with any frequency and considering my VZW contract ends shortly after the EVO would be released the only thing that will likely keep me with VZW for another 2yrs would be a troupe mythical pink elephants dancing...(...across the screen my new HTC Incredible.)

Still, I get a 17% discount with my company through VZW, a 10% for AT&T and no discount for Sprint and I'm still thinking of jumping ship because it'd still be cheaper. Just not sure about coverage

I thought the data was unlimited text? or used to be??

Not sure if this is quite possible yet, but I know that you can get Google Voice to ring to Skype on a computer. I wonder if it'd be possible to get it to ring to a mobile app on your phone, so you could at least receive calls through skype for free.

is the incredible going to be a mobile hotspot at all? is there a way to make it? i heard that the iphone wasn't like that originally but then you could get an app to make it that way.

thanks

I thought the data was unlimited text? or used to be??

it includes unlimited text, but also unlimited web, data, etc...
$54.99 monthly allowance
Plan includes:
Unlimited Messaging
Unlimited Web Browsing
Unlimited Data Usage
Unlimited Personal Email
Voice Per Minute Rate $0.25

does it have 2.1 pre-installed?

Yes but it updated about 10 minutes after I first turned it on so I had 2.01 for that brief period of time. The phone itself is pretty nice.

I haven't noticed any lag but I also use Advanced Task Killer every time I close out an app or task so that really helps. I also am not using live wallpapers (who cares) but the touchscreen works really well. The pinch to zoom works really good as well and the onscreen keyboard isn't half bad either.

I have Lotus Notes at work (for now) but once we go Outlook next month it will have everything I need. I am still getting the Incredible and I am prepared to return this on day 27 in order to get my NE2 and other stuff back. I am happy that I did it.
