Hairline Crack in Screen Protector

ScandaLeX

Wasn't Me
Just recently while wiping my screen I noticed a hairline crack shaped like this < only much bigger. First I stopped breathing then anger set in because my Note 2 has never been dropped (other than the time it was but fortunately landed on a huge pile of laundry).
Once I was able to breath again, I started wiping some more. Each time I clean my screen protector it's usually with the little cloth that came with it or some larger ones I have for when I clean my eye glasses.

Seeing as how I can't wipe this scratch out (wishful thinking) I slowly start resigning myself to my screen being crack UNTIL I lift the screen protector. WHEW, there's nothing wrong with my screen.

I'm using the SGP Ultra Crystal. Has anyone seen this or anything that resembles a broken screen when it's actually the screen protector?
This seems like something unexplainable. I'm not hard on my screen whatsoever.

I've since removed the protector because looking at it keeps making me think it's on the screen and I cant stand that. I've only had it on for about a month. Is it supposed to do this? Is this normal I guess is what I should be asking?

I tried taking a pic of it but it's hard to get it just right so you can see it.

I've never had a crack but I have had, on my evo, what looked like a raised line as if the protector had been folded. It was a seidio protector not sgp, but they promptly replaced it. I'm sure if you contact spigen they will send you another.

I'm not all that concerned about a replacement just the fact that seeing something like this can cause one to have an instant stroke. My phone is always very near me and I don't play the "lem'me see your phone" game. Mine doesn't look like a raised line like it had been folded or anything. It really does look the same as if the screen itself had been cracked.

Definitely sounds defective to me. Perhaps it was an existing not visible flaw in the material and with temperature variations was made visible.

I'd love to go with that but I honestly don't believe it was that either. I haven't used screen protectors in forever and this was the first one I applied which went on effortlessly. No smears, no dust, no lifting. Just odd.

i have that same protector... looks clear to me... i'd email them for a replacement

Looks clear to me and has been clear. That's not the problem. Neither is getting a replacement. What I'm "trying" to point out is just HOW much it can look like a cracked screen. I wouldn't never thought it was the protector.

I have recently had a near heart attack regarding just this but it was my fault. After the alarm going off I had lots of time to wake up so I thought I would charge the phone before I went to work, but grabbing it off my bedside cabinet with my right hand and plugging it in(being half asleep) I nearly dropped the phone, making the micro USB slide up the screen!
I was devastated, switched the light on, woke the wife (she had not long got in from work) but after a few seconds realised the SGP screen protector took the full brunt of it, had to take it off to make sure, but 'phew'

It's possible. I've used alot of screen protectors from my Sony Clie days. Screen protectors never lasted long as the stylus easily scruffed and scratched the screen protector with so little effort after long continuous abuse.

I'm never worried because I know it's the protector and not the screen. That's probably because I use them regulary that I don't worry about the screen underneath. I guess it's because you never used a protector before which got you scared.

Yes yes yes.....it's been a long time since I've used any. It's scary forum post that got my thinking I needed one. So many people had been posting about fine scratches on their phone screen.

Hi not an tech expert here but wondering if it has something to do with the gestures that the note 2 uses. The < and > are used to go back and forth , may be the screen protector is picking up the imprint somehow.

I tried the shortcut gestures (upswipe) 10/25 when I got the phone. Stopped trying 10/25. It's much faster for me to just launch the app.

That's because I think people are forgetting the fact that they are using the S-Pen. Unlike a finger, it has a very fine tip. The tip itself or if chipped can easily scratch anything without trying. Gorilla Glass is more scratch resistant, but it's not scratch proof.

I think too many additional factors are being tacked onto my issue which none were the case at all.
Not once did I forget I was using the S-Pen. I'm a stylus girl by nature (no not those fat rubber tipped things).

The fine scratches in the screen carried over from previous phones to the point that everyone now thinks they must have a screen protector.
