Hio my galaxy ace 2 seems to be lagging a wee bit. Does anyone know how to make it smoother. It usually lags whilst loading texts or browsing through music. It runs gingerbread 2.3.6. Thanks:)

Hi, welcome to the forum.

How long have you had the Ace 2, has it just started lagging?
Have you loaded any large apps/games recently?
Do you regularly clear down the data/cache on your apps/games & emails/internet etc...?
My Ace 2 is pretty zippy, so you must have something heavy making it slower.
Facebook is a very heavy app & loads up tons of cache every time you use it!
so does Twitter, although not as bad.

Try checking your "manage applications" & go through each app clearing the cache, this may be enough to help :)

Thanks for the reply;) Just out of interest how often to you clear the cache of applications?

Hi, I clear mine down every couple of days, it only takes a few minutes.
As I say, some apps like Facebook/Twitter/News/weather/Flipboard/Internet browser/YouTube etc.. load up tons of cache, as do certain games.
You'll get to know which apps are heavy & just check on these in "manage apps" from time-to-time. Also, I turn off my phone after every other charge, just to reboot it. Hope this helps :)

Or you could download a history/cache cleaner app from the market and clear the cache of all your apps with one click. Much quicker than doing them individually.

Hi, yes he could, BUT that is adding another app to his "laggy" phone, haha!;)
I personally prefer to control which apps I clear down & what history I keep, plus I hate adding apps for tasks the phone can already perform, like battery apps & task killer apps etc...:p but that's just me...........

I hate installing apps for tasks the phone can perform to:D
Il just clear the cache every now and then. I did it today and the phone runs smooth as butter on a hot day :D:D. thanks

Ha, oh well, each to their own then I guess! Installing one app of less than 1mb won't make a phone any more laggy though. You just open and click 'clear' once, which seems a lot quicker and more convenient to me than faffing about in Manage Applications, clearing them manually. You can also set them to only clear some apps, not all of them. Whatever works best for you though, like you say - just thought I'd mention it.

This one is a widget of only 17k, you just click the widget on the homescreen. Can't get any more simple and lightweight than that! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tritop.android.SLWCacheCleanerWidget&hl=en

hey, I'm always open to suggestions, so I'll give that lightweight one a go!!
Especially if you can select which apps to clear & not just all of them get wiped! :p Thanks. G

Oh, I'm not sure if you can select which ones to clear with that particular app, but I know you can with others because I've used them in the past.

That little utility seems to work quite well, thorahird.
Thanks indeed.

EDIT: Since installing SLW Cache Cleaner, I have tried others as well. But, this is the only one that seems to be a true '1-tap' cleaner. Tap the icon, and it just clears the cache. Others may be more powerful, with many other functions, but this simply does what it says on the tin!
