Help GS3 screen stopped rotating

Yesterday I noticed my screen would not rotate. I use a stopwatch app for my job and I turn the phone to the side so that the clock fills the screen. When i did this, it wouldn't rotate, even though screen rotation is on.

Watching videos and just using the phone and turning it on it's side does nothing. Nothing rotates.

I restarted the phone and it still will not rotate. I also turned on smart orientation and still got nothing. What should I do?

Have you tried calibrating the gyroscope in settings, motion, sensitivity settings?

mine has "unset" to non-rotate a few times. double check (in settings) that it is checked to auto-rotate

It is checked and highlighted and still does not rotate. It was highlighted when it stopped, so that isn't the problem.

Tried that, no change. Tried it before I made this thread, I don't know what's going on with this phone.

I don't see the gyroscope, motion sensitivity settings. I have no option for gyroscope settings. Just motion on/off

I had the same issue. If I clicked the power button (dims screen and locks phone) rotated the phone, and then pressed the home button and entered my PIN it would unlock and rotate would work again.

I will also add, that when I had this issue I was on a trip 2500 miles from my home base. When I returned home after 4-5 days, the issue went away. Not much, but maybe it will help.

I never travel that far. I work 5-7 miles from my home. And I have the problem while I'm AT home, so this doesn't help me, but thanks.

This issue is really getting on my nerves as it make my job a bit more difficult not being able to see the timer from a distance with the screen not rotating.

Don't press the on/off toggle, press to the left of this and it should open up another page of settings.

I too am having same problem with screen not rotating anymore, this is frustrating. Can someone help out?

I was having the same issue so I asked my bf to fix it (since he's a bit of a techie), he couldn't fix it but found this video, did what the guy in the video suggested, and it actually worked.

Since I'm new to this I'm not allowed to post links but if you go to Google and type in "gs3 screen won't rotate" it should be the first video.
