New to Verizon Nexus. I have questions.

I'm new to the Verizon Nexus. Just got it after selling my S3. So far I like Jelly Bean and I like that it's fast. Does anyone know when Google Wallet will be available and if Google Now is on this phone? Thank you.
 
Google wallet will probably never be officially supported on Verizon. But the app can still be "side loaded" by downloading the .apk file to your SD card and installing it from there.

It will work fine rooted or unrooted.
 
I don't really understand the google wallet thing. When I buy apps from Google Play, it works fine through google wallet
 
There is also a physical app that Google makes that is an extension of that. It is potentially usable on any device that has NFC. It works on the Galaxy Nexus among many other phones. In essence, it allows you to use your phone as a credit card to pay for things at brick & mortar stores. However Verizon blocks the use of this app, claiming it's for network security. However many believe the reason is because Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile have a joint venture called Isis that has just launched in test markets that it a direct competitor to Google Wallet.
 
I had issues upon issues with the S3. It overheated, randomly shut off, ANY keyboard would freeze and battery life wasn't too great.
 
I always loved the Galaxy Nexus for its pure vanilla android. The only jump that I might make is from Verizon to maybe get the Nexus 4. I will probably never buy a non-nexus device again.

The S3 has better hardware. But the Nexus gets the best developer support. That's why I got it. I can handle an inferior camera and the semi-pathetic battery life because I like getting the software updates almost as soon as they are released to AOSP. And the AOSP based roms for the Gnex are so good....the experience is nearly bugless for me at this point. On the OG Evo that I used to have, there were always so many things that were hit and miss on AOSP. I love the fact that I have mostly worry free AOSP with tons of options at my disposal. Kernel support is incredible too. It is unmatched.
