Help challenge for android wifi NAS network experts???

comnut

Newbie
I am thinking about acessing the 64 Gb card in the GS3, without messing with **slow** USB, simple wifi interfaces like 'airdroid' (which though fab, cannot do *full* file handling... :( ) - no worry about heat, I use an ancient switch's heavy metal box as a heat sink! :)
..................

Is it possible to attach the GS3 as a 'type of NAS' - so that the SD card in the phone looks and works *just like* any hard drive you would plug into win XP or 7 ??? :confused::confused:

This would mean I can use utils like XnView to rename, edit, replace and search files massively, and also use a program like 'Auslogics Duplicate File Finder' to wipe out the many duplicates I have seen....

No fiddling with your valuable card while getting it out or messing with other complex solutions like microsd to sata adapters and their virtually non-existent support.... :/

no clue abt the nas thing but why dont you try AirDroid it lets u connect to ure phone via wifi and you can do a lot of stuff with it.

:smokingsomb::rolleyes:
" 'airdroid' (which though fab, cannot do *full* file handling... :( )"
-- the file list only exists in your browser, NOT accessible to the filesystem!!!

Have you tried copying 64Gb of file using USB??? it quite often gets saturated, so takes hours...

I will bet Wi-Fi 802.11n will get there faster...

still waiting for a worthy expert..........

Just try sharing your S3 your going to need to do that for it to work like a NAS or even try to MAP your S3. Not going to happen. Hows that for a worthy expert????????

If you root your you can use an app like Samba Filesharing to make you phone show up on the network so you can map to it.

what country you from???

speak, yoda you do.... :rolleyes: worthy, understand you do not...

sure very easy! now tell me how airdroid does it, without root, on windows!!!

a link would help...:/

I don't use airdroid. Nothing I use requires root. BUT everything I do, I do from the phone.

So I want a file from my windows pc? I use my file manager in android. I want to put data from my phone into my NAS? File manager. Linux? File manager.

I pull data to my android and push data from my android. I don't push data from windows or pull data from android. That is the difference in what you asked and what I do.

I guess you are lucky enough to have a full android system, with keyboard, mouse, and 10 inch or lrger screen... {{{envy}}}

But you seem to have missed something ***VITAL*** in my last post.... :/

1. Yes. I have a galaxy s3. I can connect a keyboard, mouse, 46" screen to it. Any s3 owner can

2. You cannot natively support browsing your android sdcard on windows. I told you this already.

3. Nothing I have told you requires root. I do not use airdroid so how can I tell you that?!

4. Don't be so rude and ungrateful. No one helps people like this. I've given you the best answers I can.

yes, sheldon.... and if you had anything like Leonard Hofstadter, you would see I am being very polite... bazinga!!! :rolleyes:
