Help Update issue

Stock, unrooted, locked boot loader.

When I tried to apply the latest small 1mb update it just created with an android lying on its back and a message underneath saying "No command".

Rebooting just continually returned me to that screen after the Google logo - out never got as far as the X boot animation.

I could get into the bootloader, but trying to get to recovery from there brought back the same message.

I'm not sure what made it work again: I plugged in the USB as I remember reading somewhere that there was a bug of that sort, but eventually after leaving it on the android on his back image for a while it rebooted normally by itself. The update did not apply...

Anyone know what might have caused this? Will it so it again if I retry the install, and how can I get off the android screen manually?

(Unrelated, maybe, but I did try unlocking the device originally but got a neverending X boot animation so relocked it. Will be brave enough to try unlocking again when they are back in stock in case I have a faulty device.)

Any thoughts?

Much appreciated.

"an android lying on its back and a message underneath saying "No command"

If you get in that situation again, press and hold the power button and then tap the volume down button (I think its down - the one on the right). That will take you into recovery. Then do a factory reset.

When you unlocked and got the neverending X, a factory reset would have fixed that. I'm not sure what may be causing your update problem. I don't think unlocking would interfere with that. Rooting might.

Thanks.

I reflashed the factory images from Google when I had the boot issue. That didn't fix it - I did a factory reset from recovery, which solved it, but I had already relocked by then.

Not used to stock recovery as I usually root straightaway and use CWM. Never had this many issues before and it's making me nervous!

There was a bug in the original update file. Go back to where you got the zip and there should be an updated file there.
