Thank you. Before flashing that modem,I would like to tell you my "problem". I live in Romania and I have a Orange branded and ex-sim locked SGS2 (I unlocked it with GalaxySimUnlock).
It came with ICS 4.0.4 and I rooted it with CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LQ5-v5.6-CWM5 and the baseband was LQ6. The download speeds on this configuration (on data network,HSPAP) is around 4-5 Mbs (max 6).
I installed CM10 and the download speeds jumped up to around 8-9 Mbs. I had the same results with the leaked JB firmware. All the test were done at around 2-3 am ,in the same location.
Now I am back on stock ICS 4.0.4 rooted with CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LQ5-v5.6-CWM5 and I would like to bump up my data speed.I tried different ICS modems with no success (still around 4-5 Mbs).
What confused me is the first part of this post :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11243433&postcount=8 . It says : " The kernel... It's the core/kernel of an operating system. It's main functions (as stated above) are to interact with the hardware a.k.a. Device Drivers, to manage resources (things like memory management and processor time sharing a.k.a. multi-tasking), service interrupt requests,
network services and the like"
Should I understand from this that the kernel is (together with the modem ?) in charge of the data speed? If so,my problem is not the modem but the kernel.
Can you clarify this up for me ?
