Help Hangs on unlock screen

Lurker
Hi all,

My S2 has this annoying habit where it freezes up when unlocking - this happens several times a day now, and seems to be at random (ie. not every time, but I haven't noticed a pattern of anything different between when it freezes and when it doesn't).

I press the home or lock button to wake up the phone and I see the lock screen but the Menu and Back buttons don't light up and the touch screen doesn't respond. I usually try a few more times and then either the screen stays black when I push the home button, or just the Menu and Back buttons light up (nothing else), or it once again shows the screen but won't respond to touch.

If I leave it for about a minute, it almost always works fine once I try again. But sometimes it's very annoying to wait that minute, and I can't understand why this would be happening. Any other reported instances of this sort of thing/known causes?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Same issue here with leaked XXLSJ. Mine starts working if I press power button once to turn off and then press power or home button again, then it works fine.

I've had the issue happen a couple of times in the past hour or so since I read this, and tried this way (couldn't remember if I'd tried it that way before or just waited until the screen fell back asleep on its own before trying to wake it again). The first time it seemed to work, but the second time it didn't.

I re-flashed the JB rom and initially the problem seemed resolved. I did not reinstall my apps in one go, but rather one by one. When I got Fancy Widgets back on, the problem started to raise its ugly head again. Removed Fancy Widgets and the problem stopped.

Is any of you using Fancy Widgets?

I don't have Fancy Widgets and I have this problem. It is true that it started later and it was not there in the beginning.

I don't have the courage to re-flash and do all the settings again ;)

I am using Fancy Widgets with no problems with freezing at all. In Advanced settings I have enabled Skin cache but have disabled Check for updates, Report usage and errors and Enable debug mode. Also I have disabled the experimental Enable unlock animation in Animation settings.

I don't have Fancy Widgets, and am not using JB. I hope the post Hawker linked to is useful for some who are using JB, but I have to think there's something else causing this if I'm having the same issue without using the leak.

For now I've switched from the "Slide" to "None" option in lock screen settings to see if it helps or if my screen still freezes occasionally when waking even without a lock screen. But as this might result in some accidental screen wakeups/application launches, I'm hoping there's a better solution...

I am on the Neat JB leak and I also occasionally get a hangup on the lock screen. The majority of the time this happens is when my phone is plugged into the wall charger. It gets worse when wifi is turned on whether its plugged in or not. :hmmmm2:

I only hope when the official version is release they manage to get this issue fixed up. But all things aside, this "unofficial" release has been pretty bug free for the most part and is slick and smooth so I am able to deal with the minor inconvenience.

I've not seen this problem prior to the leaked JB release.

I would experiment with a different launcher to see if the problem is carried over.
as you are not rooted, you can't even try a wipe of cache+dalvik (only cache is possible on stock recovery if i remember correctly)

if the problem goes away on a different launcher then either stick with that launcher, or clear data for your original launcher. either way you would have to configure all your homescreens again.

if the problem is on all launchers, then your options are probably limited to a factory reset, or perhaps try another lockscreen type
