White or Titanium....Verizon/Best Buy Exchange them?

Long story short...I went to store wanted Grey they only had white so F it i want the phone not the color, so i got white.

12 days now, Black Head phones with black case, but im not happy. Grey just looks so great! I tried white, but i dont think i can live with it....i think im in love with grey!

Bought at Best Buy on Verizon...do you think they will allow me to exchange it? I didnt think color would matter so much when the phone is just so awsome. It just comes down to its not what i wanted. Aaaa!

Honestly I don't think so... never hurts to try though, but now it's a "used" phone so they can't sell it new.

I figured as much, but heres what i was hoping on...

1) there was in incident when i purchased the phone. I know the sales person remembers me and he owes me, so this can be a payback kind of deal.

2) Cry, yell, scream!?!?

3) I am well withen my return timeframe, so if anything I can return it, pay the $25.00 restocking fee ( if applicable/if its that much ) and then re-purchase the other one.

dont know...one of them should work or ill just try them all :-P

I did it. But I got lucky because when they first became available at Best Buy, they didn't get any grey ones in. Aside from the manager at Best Buy being really cool and even willing to order online for me to be able to get grey, I randomly called and he just happened to get 1 grey one in. This was for the Sprint version, but the return/exchange policy should still be the same.

After the first 14 days, I don't know exactly if you'd be able to swap colors though, so I'd call around and do it now.

-EDIT- I should add, that was after 7 days owning the white one. For me, it just got too confusing between my international version and the Sprint version (yes, I have 2 of these bad boys). But nontheless, within the 14 days, there shouldn't be any problem swapping as long as they have it in stock. In fact, at my best buy, the manager was even willing to give me a "loaner" phone until they got grey in.

You can return it within the 2 week period. After that you will have to purchase the grey one full price and trade in your white..you should get about $200 for it......

So, what is covered in the remainder of the 30 day or 45 day return/exchange window at best buy? Does that only cover exchanging a phone that stops working?

I thought that the 14 day period only had an effect on customers not being able to re-instate the upgrade eligibility or be able to return the phone and be refunded?

Damn, I hate Bestbuy!

VZW, if you are in the return window on your receipt, you can do unlimited changes. You just pay the $35 restock fee. This is NOT a BBY policy, this is a corp vzw policy.

I've verified this through vzw.com online chat, calling the mothership's 611 number, and asking at the store!

I did a change at a corp store and the guy took like an hour trying to get it through the system, claimed slow system, closing time, etc. He actually tacked on 2 years on my contract.

Oh, I had words with VZW that night and stayed on the line until the 2 years was off. I would expect nothing less from any corp store, walmart, indy store.

Ok, thanks for looking at my story, it's true bro! :D:D

You can exchange at Best Buy for 30 days, but there are no grey ones in stock (at least for Sprint) at any Best Buy within a few hundred miles of me.

That's what I thought. I even have up to 45 days, due to being Silver Premiere. My understanding was that the 14 days only applied to processing a complete return and refund, as well as the upgrade eligibility reversal.

That said, not sure if the standards are different for Verizon phone vs. Sprint or any other provider.

ok....first off thanks for the replies and the stories.

After I saw drexappeal and Ceva321's post i left work and started to back up my device on the train on my way home, then drove to Best Buy....they were packed! I had already check and they had the Titanium Grey in stock, so i got there i got in line. As the three reps were handling customers a forth was going though the line to see what we were there for, I guess to speed up the process. I explain to the guy i basically wanted to trade the white phone to the grey if it was an option. He said that ATT was not able to, but would verify if Verizon could. He came back and said no, they did not offer that as a service. As i stated above I asked how about if I return the device and came back 10 mins later could I do that. After a quick giggle he said i guess so, so I said thanks and stood there thinking about my options as he went to service the next person.

As I moved up the line he comes back and asked if i decided what i wanted to do. I then explained to him the situation A) I went to buy the phone the day before the release and went through all the process until they tried to ring it up and they couldnt. Came back the next morning to do it all over again. Then B) the morning i went in it said it had two Greys in stock, but could not find one so i took the white. The guy says hmmm, i would do it for you, but let me call the manager to see if it could be done. Sure enough the manager comes and i explain the story again and he says no problem and tells the cashier to go ahead and ring it up.

Bam...got the grey and even managed to get $3.49 back in cash and some more ( i didnt look at the receipt yet ) added back to my card. So for anyone trying to do this it does have to be withen the 14 days and it wouldnt hurt to give them a little story. The sales person who processed the return and swapped the phones was great. Took about 1-2 hours, but he was cool. The Manager was awesome, a low spoken gentleman or even a cool cat reminding me of 007. Shout outs to both!

Sorry so long, but though the info and extra detail may help someone else. Thanks again for the replies and for reading.....have a great night!

Edit:
Let me add to my wall of text. The first time I went ( the day before release ) and today the sales rep went to the cabinet to get the phone and could not find the Titanium Grey...come to find out both associates both times were looking for a grey box not knowing it only came in white. Had i known this to begin with i may have walked home with a Grey the first night. This help my story although already true, but just helped confirmed...even justify it in every ones mind what they were doing was the right thing to do.

:-)

Yup. Glad that you got it! You had to go through a little more convincing than I originally anticipated, but I've always had different experiences at different Best Buy's. I've found that if you approach it the right way, they're WAY more accomodating than any experience I've ever had going directly to Sprint (or any provider, for that matter).

Oh and just to add, for those that don't know, Amazon has the phone on sale for $149 for new customers on Sprint...Best Buy price matched for me last night, since I'm still within my 45 (silver premiere) return/exchange window :D.

And if you're thinking they won't price match cross-provider, they did it for me for the iPhone 4s I got my family member last year (recently switched it to the Photon Q 4G LTE). Verizon had it on sale for $179.

Drex,

Did you upgrade or started a new line with the price match from Amazon?

I upgraded...but the Best Buy I go to most often (and closest to my house) is so easy to deal with when it comes to things like this. They had price matched me before for the $199 deal Amazon had earlier last month too. I've never had a problem with them price matching at this particular location. I've experienced more push back from other locations though, which didn't bother me, so obviously every store is different. I've also been a silver premiere member for the past couple years, so not sure if that made a difference. I honestly didn't expect them to price match this one, but they were cool enough to check with the manager anyway and the Geek Squad guy came back and said, "yeah, manager said it was fine." In my experience, it never hurts to ask, as long as you're not expecting anything in return. That's how I've always approached it and they've always been really good to me.

The white isn't that bad. Shows less fingerprints actually.

I really liked the white one a lot. Problem for me was that I purchased an international note in white also (thinking that the Grey would be initially available at Best Buy), so it was starting to get confusing whenever I had both phones with me. I got very lucky that they got a grey in stock, otherwise the return process would've been a lot more involved.

That just goes to show, different strokes for different folks.I couldnt begin to tell you why i didnt like the white. I thought I would grow into it, but it just drew me further away. To me the Grey just looks for much nicer and love the strips/striations and i couldnt see that on the white one. Im glad i was able to exchange it or else you would have found me trying to sell it to repurchase it again. As long as we all are happy, right?!?!

Wow. Interesting that you didn't like the white that much. The one thing I did like about the Grey was that it stood out, but also was a very understated color.

Funny thing is, I originally wasn't intending on getting the Grey at all, until I got that steal of a deal for Daily Steals for the white International Note 2. The more people started talking about the grey, the more I had to see it in person, just to judge whether it was an option for me or not. As soon as I saw it in person, I knew that it was the choice for my "daily" use phone.

The color I'm most curious about was the additional blue (I think it was mentioned as Cobalt Blue) color that's supposed to be released after the new year. The other color that was announced was brown, which is never an option for me...LOL. For those that didn't see the article, it was a Phandroid article sometime last month.
