It'd be awesome to have a phone with a front-facing camera that would take the picture of the next person to hold it and picture message it back. So if anyone stole it they'd be screwed.

The PR person, I have a kind of email relationship with, has been nothing but kind, cordial, informative, personable and informative. I don't see them treating their customers this way.

I would have to say that since the Incredible is such a hyped phone, the more under wraps they are able to keep it, the more interest there is in its upcoming announcement. Just my .02. ;)

That's exactly what I mean.

When you lay it out on the line, they ARE manipulating us. They have phones, we want phones. They need to sell a bunch of Droids and Palms first, we just want the Incredible. So the dance continues. Don't get me wrong, I realize that's the way the game is played, and they're perfectly within their rights to do so. From that aspect, it doesn't bother me a bit. Still... I would feel a lot better if they said, "Yeah, the Incredible exists. We expect it to be ready at the beginning of Q2 2010. It'll be worth the wait."

I guess what I take from it is this- the Incredible must REALLY be something special for if they're taking this many precautions to keep it under wraps.

It would be better if you could tell the battery to go critical and explode in their hands

I thot i read somewhere about an app that had a "panic feature" that would dial a number and start taking pictures. For times like auto accidents, abductions, etc. So people could locate the phone for help and such.

I have gotten independent (read: not regurgitation of this thread) confirmation from a friend (and source...but friend first) who works for a certain popular site we all frequent (with "gadget" in the name...you figure it out) that the 4/29 date is confirmed to them as well from their VZW corporate account rep.

Furthermore, they expect to have a unit within the next 10 days to review and plan to (still working out details with VZW) publish a review to coincide with the phone's release (similar was done with Droid release).

Hope this comes as welcome news to you guys...i know it did to me.

Could you ask your VZW source about the possibility of an internet pre-sale? (Which is probably what all of us would do)

What's so special about it though compared to what's already out?
 
i remember when all the hype was about the nexus one. i havent heard any news on that for about a month now....lets keep it that way cuz i just my incredible.

Yeah, tbqh the N1 just looks cheap. From everything we've seen out of the Incredible, I can't see a reason why you would want the N1...I mean other than playing with a ball...
 
i'm not sure if it has been discussed before, but does verizon charge an activation fee still? does best buy?
i KNOW we've discussed the restocking fee multiple times, but don't remember an activation fee...help?

I got the Eris and the Droid online because I did not want to fool with a rebate. If this has a rebate in store I don't care, where do I sign, how much do you want, just give me the phone so I can walk out with it!

oh boy! A ball that could break and then have to send it to google o get it fixed rather then going straight into verizon...yeah im gunna say INCREDIBLE > NEXUS ONE

I know the thanks have been coming fast and furious for you but I figured I'd pass on another, from the reps at the Verizon store down the street. I asked them about upcoming phones, of course they had no info. I asked where their manager was and one stated she was 'at training on something hush hush'. I gave them printouts of the pics here and the reps were thankful for the heads up as we all know they're the last to find out.

They knew something big was coming in the last week of April but none of the reps knew what it was about.

This is the first time I am finding out about this phone.

HTC incredible?

I thought EVO was going to be the first smartphone to have 8MP camera. Incredible will have it.

My girlfriend is due for an upgrade for Verizon and I am waiting for Nexus one, and now HTC incredible.

Which one is best?

The Incredible will have a higher MP camera 8MP vs the Nexus One's 5MP, They both will have 1Ghz Snapdragon Processors, but the Incredible supposedly will have 8GB of onboard storage.

How long does it usually take a newly released phone to have accessories and cases/screen protectors made available? I'm interested because this is one aspect where the Nexus One is currently winning.
