Root v v 4

Okay, having been gone over month due to stupid brain cancer who can tell me about this new update? What's it supposed to do? If you run the updater does it automatically update you to this version? Is this version compatible with rooting and all the ROMs??

No just the newer ones that came out since have that capability.....geez unless something has changed in the last month that I'm unaware of....
 
So I'm asking because someone ran the updater & now he has version v v 4. He is having trouble rooting & I'm having trouble finding anything about this version. Has anyone ran the updater in the last few days? Does it now update everyone to this version & I want to find out the reason for it. Like with zva it was supposed to help with the overheating. I said we would get it figured out & I might just run the updater on my phone if no one has the answer
 
That would be really cool if you tried the updater. I'm curious to see what you get. I couldn't get it to work last time I used it. Don't remember if it was my 1st or replacement Connect.
 
Okay, I'm off to run the updater right now. I've ran a fever all day yesterday and didn't do much. I'll let y'all know what happens. When I got my Connect it was ZV8 but just right after I got an OTA to ZVA. We shall soon see if that's still what's up.
 
Alrighty then. I have never had problems running the updater before. Now I just ran it 3 times and it won't go past the MetroPCS screen....hmmmm.....
 
nevermind, it just took it a while to come up. I had that problem when I installed #2 the first time until I wiped my sdcard and started over. Okay, here's the deal. I don't know what the crap is going on. My phone no longer has root, I need to redo that but it didn't take it to out of the box state like it normally does either. I also still have ZVA. I don't know where v v 4 came from. He took a screenshot though and I did see that's the version he has on MS840. Now I'm really confused.
 
Well I guess zva is best for me anyway. My area 4g stinks without trying to get calls over it too. Thanks for looking into this. Anna hope you feel better...

You know a replacement Connect is a refurbished and if I'm not mistaken you have to use the virtual machine updater. Of course I have chemo mush brain and I could be remembering this wrong but I don't think so
 
Yeah I have heard refurbished have crazy update problems. I think my replacement was new. Connect was only out 3 months before I drove it crazy. I know it had ZV8 just don't recall how I got ZVA. A couple weeks ago I was at a corporate store and ask about this update. The argument began. I was informed ALL connects are already on VOLTE. :thumbdown: boo bad info...
 
Actually he took a screenshot and well wait a minute and I will take a screenshot of the screenshot bahahahahah, ( i do realize that mostly I just crack myself up :D ) so I can show y'all

So it's still the same model number just a different sw version. At least now I know where it came from. I knew after I ran the updater and my version didn't change that's what it had to be. So have others with this phone had problems rooting?
 
What does this mean all hardware is the same and only software is different? If it goes as an update what about crapy 4g areas? Most importantly what will this do to the battery? My extended battery has 2 black eyes already. :eek:
 
Okay, I just actually talked to him on the phone. yes for sure his phone is a voLTE phone. It had a different version than v v 4 though he can't remember exactly what it was. He was rooted, he said he rooted with no problems. I'm sorry, I really can't remember why he said he had to run the updater. (i really hate this memory problem!) After running the updater he was at v v 4 and can no longer seem to root plus other problems. I don't know anyone else who has the voLTE but will dig around and see what I can find.

Im confused because my phone came with ZVA and I can surf the web and be on a call (speaker phone of course :D). Am I missing something?? maybe I just dont understand what voLTE actually is, can you tell me a way I can test to see if my phone really is voLTE?

voLTE is when you make the call over LTE, not CDMA. When you're on voLTE the other people will hear you a lot better and clearer although I do not know how to tell if the call is over LTE or CDMA
