Help Moment 2.1 Update Thread

I tried it - put in an address from inside a building and mapped a route. Haven't left yet to try it out. Google Latitude is also much more accurate.
 
Question I have...is the battery life improved? I usually have to charge my phone all day while I'm work to have it last until I go to bed at night. I'm going to leave it off and see how it does.

update: Yeah, my battery is down to 15% already. I think I have a crappy battery, I ordered a new one earlier in the week.
 
We just started the battery discussion over at sdx so i'm sure you'll get tons of answers about it soon. I've about 5 hours in and 3 were heavy see and i'm at 60% so still testing.
 
Haven't got anything and couldn't get it confirmed from Sprint... Obviously it will be rolled out in stages, so maybe some one has it?
 
Any one have a guess on the "stages" for this roll out?

Stage one: Anyone with a clue that goes and bangs down the door at a Sprint store tomorrow morning.

Stage two: Anyone with a Moment who knows somebody in the stage one group, and gets tired of listening to them brag about how great 2.1 is.

Stage three: Anyone who happens to buy a Moment after they start updating them before sending them out the door.

You can adjust the timeout for the key board now! This is so much nicer. I have my phone all set up in less than 2 hours, and have been getting my work done too.
 
Sorry if I missed this:

- Can I restore my phone back to CL14 simply and easily if needed?
- All I need is the Sprint Update Utility and DD03 Rom correct?
- What do I need to restore the CL14 OS if needed or will Sprint Update make a backup?

Just called three repair centers in the area asking for the "New Samsung Moment 2.1 update that was released THIS MORNING.". Two said they didn't have it yet. The third said they did... they have had it for a while.:rolleyes:

If you have to go back to CL14, you just get it off the sprint website, but expect it to be pulled soon and replace with the 2.1 update. I updated to the 2.1 and I'm by no means a expert (I'm not even sure I qualify as a geek?), and it was very easy. The improvements are huge. There are so many small improvements that haven't even been mentioned. You will not want to go back to CL14 after this, trust me.

Thanks, done. CL14 was actually in the Sprint Update software, I just moved it and used the new ROM and its all perfect. All of 2 mins

Liking the keyboard timeout, menu changes (easier and better explained), extra options like battery use, accessibility, etc ...
 
so i found this odd. just for fun i went to see if i could update my firmware...i have 3 bards and EV right now, however as soon as i click update firmware i lose my EV and then it says "and error occured while trying to update your firmware. please try again later" and as soon as i go home my EV comes back up! weird huh?:eek:
 
After reinstalling all my apps a huge thing I notice is Ive got a ton more memory than before. With cl14 I had used 126 meg. With 2.1 Im using 76. Everything Ive used so far seems to be working well and finally drocap2 is working.

Thats prolly because that aspect of their network is clogged with everyone hitting update firmware at the moment!
It also happened to me and I have a Hero, hey I can always hope right:D

I'm a total noob to Android... just got my phone two days ago. So I guess the 2.1 update will have to be done physically in a store, and not OTA? Thanks!
 
Anyone doubting this shouldn't I have wi fi bluetooth and work and yahoo running fine. astro is available and works still recovering all my apps from the market now.
 
So far, very good! Major improvements across the board. Only 3 screens and no live wallpaper. Even the sprint nav is much improved and Google voice search is almost flawless. Nuiance is still in there and improved as well.

Lots to talk about!

Sdx is working on getting live wallpapers up and running and they also have a link to the new gallery download. I just installed helix so I put up 5 screens.

Have you checked out the camera they really improved it.
