Found this on the Best Buy website this morning.

4G Fever: A Look at the Network that Drives the HTC EVO | Best Buy Mobile: everything mobile - every point of view

Thought it might help with the wait for next friday.

'Be prepared to see some big changes in the way you use your mobile in the coming days' this is the end of the article... I wonder if thats a little dig kind of confirming the april 16 date weve been hearing about the media blitz and release of specs and all info

It's still crazy to me looking at the statistics of this thread compared to the Incredible thread - 56,894 vs. 1,594,086 views. Just based of that it seems possible the Incredible will sell better than the Evo which also seems crazy.

just curious i know this isnt the incredible thread but does anyone actually know the REAL specs of the incredible?? because everywhere i look i see differing opinions... it looks slightly similar to the evo minus the obvious forward facing cam and 4g support..

Go to the main incredible thread and to yesterday's posts (I believe). Look for a post from the original poster Anon... and his BOOM! post. The huge text in that post is a link to the Incredible user guide that you can download. They now have official specs and currently, they are expecting a release of Apr 29th. Not 100% confirmed, but pretty solid date it seems.

I was originally planning on that phone, but then discovered Evo :)

...so...what's the deal with this kickstand design?

Is the kickstand built into the phone? I hope not, unless it is completely "stowable".

It seems that it would be high risk part for failure/breakage.

Also, I usually carry my phone in front pocket of my slacks (although this may be a problem for me with the larger EVO). I would be worried about the kickstand accidentily become "deployed" and end up getting jabbed in the stomach (or worse...).

Any thoughts?

Danny

Yeah from what I understand it's basically the EVO - front cam, 4G, only 3.7" screen vs 4.3"...that's all I know so far. Not sure if it will have HDMI out or what type of screen, how much ROM etc.

This shows the kickstand...when pushed in its flush with the back of the phone. I don't think its spring loaded so it deploys on its own, but I may be wrong. I think its just on a hinge and you just pull it out when you want it for use. Not positive on that though.

That might seem like a lot, but ask just about anyone on the street and I'll bet they'll tell you they never heard of the HTC Incredible. It's only a small group here on AF that are really interested.

3.7" screen vs a 4.3"
3G vs 4G
Front facing 1.3 megapixel camera on the Evo, not on incredible
I don't think the Incredible can shoot 720p video - it is NOT listed as a feature in the manual.
The manual says it has a 512mb ROM, but the one guy on there is hell bent that it actually has an additional 8GB ROM that the manual doesn't mention. Seems BS to me, but he's the same guy who helped leak the manual so IDK.
NO HDMI out on it.
Incredible has an "optical trackpad" on the front (kind of pointless IMO...maybe it helps when doing one handed operation).

Both have Android 2.1 with HTC Sense UI, 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, 1ghz Snapdragon processor, comparable RAM

The kickstand is part of the phone and folds away with (from what I've seen) a locking click or snap. I doubt Sprint or HTC would release a device that has the potential to shank you with one false move.

I don't think you can go by what they're saying in the Incredible forum. They're blown everything out of proportion and have more or less willed it into being comparable to the EVO. I have never seen "official specs" for that phone and Verizon is keeping it a secret.

This is from the leaked manual:

From the PDF (I'm sure people want to see this upfront...)

Specifications
CPU speed 1 GHz
Platform Android

I know this is an Evo thread, but is anyone watching the liveblog of Iphone OS4? They just announced full multitasking, in app sms, and wallpapers. Should be an interesting summer lol

yea i havent seen anything concrete either but it seems as if its an evo... minus the 4g steroids and a smaller screen.. just curious if verizon is gonna try and market it as being somehow comparable to the evo and how sprin has been working with htc since 2008 and still hasnt released the device while vz wither theyre "supposed better network" has a comparable phone

PS im watching the apple liveblog... pretty interesting i might add

THats pretty good !

It just seems like an odd feature that is prone to be a problem/annoyance, but we'll see...

From the picture above, it appears that the kickstand is only usable in "landscape"...not sure if I care about using it in portrait...just an observation.

man decisions decisions let's see if yall can help me out im making the switch to android from an iPhone and have been set on the incredible but with the leaked spec sheet of the 512 ROM instead of the 8 GB like supposedly it had im in a bit of a pickle...now to me i think if the incredible gets the 8 GB internal im pretty sure the EVO would too and i know google is working on a way to save apps to the SD...so do you think the EVO is going to have the n wireless card and FM radio as well...and can someone honestly tell me is there a noticeable difference between AMOLED and TFT??...i know i can save some $$ by going with sprint so that is a big plus...just looking for a little help lol a bit stuck

if the 512 rom holds true i think thats undersized.. also diff between amoled and tft theres some both good and bad its a matter of opinoin on which outweighs the other tho.. dont think the evo is getting wireless n but fm tuner is in there if you go to page 1 you can see the specs

The evo still is FTW vs the new Iphone

Can I get an AMEN!!!

The evo still is FTW vs the new Iphone

I hope so. Ive never really used android, but the iphone OS has just stepped their game up majorly. I still have little doubt the Evo will destroy the new iphone hardware wise, though. I just dont know enough about android to comment really

A summary for those who dont know
So let's review. Multitasking, folders, enhanced mail, iBooks, enterprise, Game Kit, and iAd. And these are just seven of the 100 new user features. Now we are releasing a dev preview today."

thanks, care to elaborate on the amoled and tft im kind of leaning more towards the EVO now i mean i dont really think id use the front facing camera but the bigger screen and the cheaper plans are a plus was really hoping for the n card but no biggie.
