like trading in your dodge neon for a Ferrari.

Well I've had both and I prefer my Connect with rom #2 over my motion.

I'm not much of a car guy lol. But I googled images of both cars and I see what you're saying.

I guess what would decide whether or not I get this phone is if the locked bootloader on it gets bypassed.

So I guess here's my opinion and here's what I'm asking.
IMO Stock Connect < Stock Motion < Connect with rom #2
And I guess I'm asking will the new order be
Connect #2 < LG MS870 or the other way around.

i had a debate with someone about the motion verses the connect. if you go with both stock the motion throws the connect down a flight of stairs and sets it on fire.

i owned a connect and sold it along with my itouch to get the motion but i wouldnt be able to say anything on a comparison of a tricked out connect and a stock motion. i had my connect rooted, bought an extended battery, had toggle widgets, and clockspeed adjustment apps in order to get my connect to perform half as well as my stock motion. i never went the custom rom route with my connect though. i have rooted my motion only to use an ad blocker that required it(#$%@ those youtube ads).

since you say you've had both do you prefer the tricked out connect over the motion because it performs better overall or because you simply have to have the ability to customize, or both?

if your tricked out connect outperforms the motion i would say stick with what you have. LG MS870 looks to have the same hardware with a bigger screen.

This was a great response thanks, in response to you're question both however i feel that outperforms is too strong a word.
Seems as though I will stay with my connect. Especially over the last week there's been a strong push for ICS. It's just that there was a thread on the connect main forums where someone claimed this to be the "connect 2"
Oh well lol. Thanks

dunno about both phones i havn't had neither but one phone uses ics and the other gingerbread could it be possible os plays a role in performance? for example im not a benchmark type of guy i dont care about sharing or beating high scores with people thats just childsplay for me but my galaxy s3 on stock ics had a max score of 5637 once i flashed a rom on 4.2.1 jellybeans my scores went up to 11234. I mean they are both dual core phones but one is bigger than the other. I would personally go for the connect but for the price the motion is a hard one to pass up.

The OS does seem to make a big difference with performance on these new LG phones. The Connect should be just as good as the Motion, but its not. The Motion beats the Connect with performance and everything. The Connect also lags and overheats. This is usually never a problem with the Motion, they sometimes overheat, but hardly ever lag at all. The ones that do overheat seem to be defective. There were a few Motions released at 1.2GHz, but after awhile they were all released with them clocked at 1.5GHz. I'm pretty sure LG screwed up but still hasn't realized it, even the new update is clocked at 1.5GHz.

Lol that's so funny but cool in the same time people pay for a slightly slower device and instead get a free upgrade. I think the motion will continue to sell just because it's a small compact phone that delivers quite a punch in performance but for the price of a much lower quality phone.

Or metro has just been wrong this whole time saying they're supposed to be 1.2GHz. Because both of the phones with the s4 chip that they have released are clocked @the normal 1.5GHz but they have been publicizing both as 1.2GHz.
*Except the S3

I remember there being a few that actually were clocked at 1.2GHz

not yet just a model number probaly one of the first phones leaked without a name but the model number is confirmed.

This phone does indeed have a name. i've been waiting for more info since u leaked the photo N4azty, when the manual came out i overlooked it cuz i was looking for specs but today i read the whole manual and the phone will be called...... the LG SPIRIT 4G! how do i know this you ask?, well its in the part of the manual about the music player and how to use it. there is a note that says.... (the LG SPIRIT 4G

That looks like an optimus one variant. Def not an upgrade from this lol

i believe that's what that one was but for australia. the lg optimus m for metro is the same phone. the specs compared on phone arena match perfectly for the lg phoenix, lg thrive, lg optimus t, optimus m, and optimus one.

Well I couldn't find spirit anywhere in that manual...
I do know that it has DLNA support but no HDMI port :/
Has a front facing camera as well and it looks like it's running JB but I'm not 100% sure. The music player looks really sweet!

Yeah after looking at that picture I can say that's not the same phone. The one on the CNET review is a lot rounder than the one in the manual.
