Root Receive iPhone emojis?

I have quite a few contacts that use iPhones, and they're emoji freaks. Only I can't see them. I've tried ChompSMS+Emoji Plugin and Handcent+Emoji Plugin but neither of them worked. I just get ?=?=?=? and ?=$?=$?=$ and combinations like that.

Any help appreciated.

From what I've read and had experience with, it seems to be a carrier problem. The way Virgin does texting right now doesn't support the use of unicode characters.

How hard would it be to combine the two apks? In the sense of having emojis and the mms fix baked into one apk.

I'm not familiar with how to do something like that so what developers could we call?

I would rather have the simple stock messaging app rather than get sucked into the "go" apps wormhole

HandcentSMS+Emoji app should work but I hear that a CDMA phone can only send them to other CDMA phones. Same for GSM phones too. It's how CDMA & GSM deal with messaging

Definitely a carrier or GSM/CDMA thing.

Emojis sent to my buddy's AT&T iPhone 4 received them but my wife's Virgin Mobile iPhone 4S came out as a garbled mess.

Lol she's not a hacker/modder like me. I don't really have anything against iPhones (except shady ethics), her phone works really well. Funny how her "I hate Apple" tune changed once it was in her hand haha
