Root Easy Guide To Get Out Of Bootloops

More and more people are reporting being stuck in a bootloop and can't get out no matter what they do. Like many, I myself experienced this problem and want to help out those who've tried from restoring a nandroid backup, to flashing an entire rom without success. Here's what to do.

1. Download JMZ's Stock Odex Rom. And place it in the root of your sd-card. Found here.
[ROM] EVO V 4G Stock ROM Deodex/Odex

2. Install htc sync (contains the necessary drivers)

3. Download this and extract it to your desktop. Meaning you have to have the folder in your desktop.

4. Download this and put it on your sdk-tools folder that you have in your desktop.

5. Boot into your boot loader and highlight fastboot, then press the power button. You should have "fastboot" highlighted in red. Connect your phone to your computer.

6. Open the sdk-toold folder. Press shift and right click at the same time in the folder. Select "open command window here"

7. Enter the following without quotes. "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" after that it should say downloading or something along those lines. Once that's done go ahead and type this. "fastboot boot recovery.img"

8. Flash the stock rom by wiping everything.

9. You take it from here, either install a different recovery or keep it and do as you like. :D

Note: I'm fully aware that these links are in the stickies, however there isn't a simple guide to get out of the hell that comes with these problems.

This sure did help. It was very fast as well. The CWM recovery is pretty cool and its touch. This should be stickied. To the op you for got the t in the "fastboot flash recovery recovery" command.
 
i followed this guide (http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-a...ing-evo-v-4g-roms-kernels-using-fastboot.html) after i was done rooting it, my friend told me about CyanogenMod and i went to google and search up "cm10 evo v 4g" and i went to this link(http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-a...hooter-rom-unofficial-cm10-shooter-alpha.html) and download it and i booted it and i wait patiently n then i start to notice that it not going nowhere so i went and delete it and i rebooted it up again and i was stuck it bootloop and i saw your thread and i try it but it didnt work soo i went on my phone and factory reset it and re-flash it again and nothing happen im still in the bootloop like always (sorry about this long message,i try to give you as much info as you need to help me out).
 
There's the problem! You need to do the S-Off procedure and downgrade your hboot from 1.57 to 1.04 (it is called engboot). So you cant flash cyanogenmod roms until you have S-off and hboot 1.04. If you want a rom that looks just like it and performs way better, download mobster rom v4.
 
I tried everything you listed to do in the first post. But after I wiped everything and tried to re-flash the rom, it's still in a boot loop. I tried to go through steps again, but it still didnt work. I don't know how to downgrade my hboot from 1.57 and I'm still S-On if that matters.
 
I was personally just in bootloop hell for the past 3 hours but I basically followed most of OP's instructions but this is what I did.

1. Formatted everything.
2. Installed stock rom
3. Installed Midnightrom (or whatever rom you like)
4. Worked.

I'm still having an issue with getting some google apps back on the phone (the latest one was crashing a lot of Google apps so I went back a few) but my contacts synced and that's mostly all that matters for me.

Install HTC Sync, it contains the drivers for your device which you need for the computer to detect the phone.

Either do the S-Off procedure, which is worth it or use 4-ext recovery available at the play store for 3 dollars and enable smart flash.

Again try installing 4-ext, obtain s-off. It will save you a LOT of time.

Install HTC Sync, it contains the right drivers for your device.

When I actually load the Stock Rom it get half way and then just shuts off, I'm already s-off and thats when the problem actually occurred

Thank you guys for your help. I know it takes all the patience you have.

But, how would I download 4-ext if I can't get my phone to even boot? Do I have to do the S-Off procedure?
And for the s-off procedure, how could I follow those directions if it doesn't detect my phone?

If you're on eng hboot then you have to revert to hboot 1.57 in order to flash the stock rom and other sense ICS roms. Play around with the hboots and let me know if you succeed. If all else fails run the stock ruu, reunlock, s-off and you'll be set.

I rooted my phone and was on the stocked odexed rom. But I tried to flash Cyanogen before doing the s-off. I know I messed up there. I did do a nandroid backup before I flashed cyanogen, but for whatever reason the recovery didnt have one listed. And now when i try to flash the stock rom, it stays in a boot loop. I tried flashing different recoveries multiple times through the bootloader but nothing helped. Thanks for trying to help me. This really is a helpful thread.

Ahh okay, the only thing left is to run the stock RUU. I know recovering from these sort of things takes a long time and is troublesome, but you should be good after following that process.

Next time I really really recommend doing the s-off process including the updates by turning your evo into an evo 3d :)

Well, now I've gotten rooted and ran the superuser and everything. But when I was trying to do the s-off procedure, the command prompt said it was waiting for the device after I did the wire trick, and now it wont turn on. Not even a red light. I have no idea what to do :(

Is it possible that the battery is discharged?

I don't think so. When I plug it into an ac adapter it wont do anything, and when I plug it into a computer it wont do anything.

try this... plug it into your computer...
open command prompt...

cd to your adb folder...
for me its:
HTML: 
cd C:/sdk-tools

next type in:
HTML: 
adb devices

tell me what output you get...
