Will you be able to watch .avi, wmv, and/or divx, xvid files?

If not, is there software to play these files on the Evo? Would you have to root the device?

For those of you that are interested, I bought a bunch of OEM HTC accessories for my Touch Pro on this website before and some of the accessories that are available for the HD2, I'm figuring would work for the EVO. Here are some that I might just purchase, prior to the release, so that they're ready to use when I get the phone:

OEM HTC HD2 Car Upgrade Kit CU S400

I'm assuming you mean you'll have to buy all new micro usb, since the EVO is micro.

Mini-usb has been pretty much the standard HTC connector on a lot of their past phones.

thanks you guys for these few posts. I just found out I didnt get a job that I applied for. It came down to me and this other guy in the final round and he won. I'm really bummed out today but still thankful for what I have.

For some reason this forum is keeping my spirits up. And the fact that TS's ceiling fan fell on him - I laughed so hard when I read that I forgot how bummed I was for a second.

Anyways, I'm still gonna be at my current job but we will be moving 40 more miles away. This EVO will be my saving grace on those train rides.

Keep your head up something even better will come your way.

ive missed a lot. just one more week until the 16th. sprint is doing a very good job of keeping their mouths shut.

Welcome mrniceguys. I'm sure the EVO will support some of those file types natively, and I saw this article: DivX support coming to all Android devices with a Qualcomm Snapdragon.

There's another thread in this forum that talks about ripping DVD's and converting to different file formats using Handbrake, but there's also a lot of discussion about the legalities of ripping DVD's in the first place.

these were some great videos. I loved the HDMI out vid. Damn, this phone has me so excited. I am going to go postal if it gets any major delays.

I had a dream last night that I was in some really rural town, and I found this tiny sprint store. I walked in, and they were unloading the shipment of 15 Evo's. I immediately told them to sell me one, and I opened in the store while they told me I was the first person to buy an Evo. I then proceeded to play with it in my dreams for hours. Ive officially reached a new ultranerd level

Haha these are the dreams that companies wish ever consumer would have, i'm right there with ya tho. Can't wait for this device!!

I can't wait for this phone to come out. This will be the first phone I actually pre-order. I keep checking this site and sprint user forums for constant updates and new videos. I knew there was a reason I stuck around with sprint for these last 9 years. I was hoping they would come out with a beast of a phone that could finally compete with the other carriers. With the Evo, I think they may have delivered.....

Hey everyone! We've been at a tourny in PA and i haven't had internet for a few days, it made me feel kinda lonely haha.

I met with Dan this weekend and he filled me in. The phone will not be available online for a while. I know you can by it at your sprint sore and that you will be able to reserve one via telesales, i dont know about directly buying it.

8gb internal memory. Hello Android market place much?!

Ohh and all the info coming out for the incredible has been fake. If you look at the info sent in you will see what i mean- 8gb internal memory but only 512 ROM. They are the same thing so yeah... haha

The device will be released "MOST LARGELY" to the public on the 13th. I was hinted, not directly told that there was some way you can get the phone on the 6th. Dan didn't know how either but hey, if you can find out go for it.

The price of the phone will be more around $250. Government and large companies have there own round about of ordering so it wont affect the general publics sales.

Now there are some interesting things regarding if you live in a 4G market or not. There are two options being debated i have been told. If you do live in a 4G market, (and i am not sure how exactly sprint plans around going about this) you may be charged an extra fee to use 4G, and there will be a different plan for you, as compared to if you do not currently live in a 4G market you will not be charged and if you magically pick up a signal then tell me how you got it =]. The second option is what makes sense to me. There will be no charge to ONLY use the phone on 4G. However if you use it as a hot spot it will cost $10 or $15 per month.

Hope that helped and Ill keep ya posted

Nice to see you back here again, Jackson. Thank you for the update. We've been seeing June 6th and June 13th, with the 13th being the likely release date. That's just over 2 months, so it's going to be hard, but we can handle it.

I really feel sorry for the people in the Incredible camp. I noticed there were conflicting reports concerning the specs which made me wonder what's going on. A lot of people are going to be upset with Verizon over there, but on the other hand, they can join us to get the best phone in the universe and save money on plans too.

I hope the price will be closer to $200 with a 2-year contract, but $250 probably isn't all that outrageous considering what you're getting.

In your last paragraph, it makes sense that there's no charge for using 4G. Hesse already told us that at CTIA. As far as charging for the hotspot thing, that's okay, after all, they charge a monthly fee for the little Overdrive Hotspot.

I can live with anything under 300. This phone is well worth that much to me. Will EVERY sprint store be getting the device? We only have 1 in my entire city, and its a pretty small one. I guess I could always drive 30 min to the Best Buy and get the phone that route

I made a paper model of one. Actually made two, because the first one didn't come out. There are six visible glue spots on the face. I think we're both at the right place. ;)

When you say it won't be available online for a while, do you mean that it won't be available online for a while after it's already on sale in stores and via telesales?

I guess I better start making calls to EVP or the corporate representatives assigned to my company...LOL.

I truly hope that they don't go with the "different plan" option for 4G. That would absolutely be the wrong decision. The 10-15 for hotspot use makes so much more business sense to me. That is, if Sprint wants to KEEP customers...hahaha
