i wish i had that 8mp camera right now. the discovery channel is recording in my backyard! they are taking out this huge gator that has been around. my video on my pre is horrible :(

yeah they won't sell it online for probably a little more than a month after it is released in stores. They did the same thing with the Pre and Hero. It's the whole supply and demand thing i guess.

Yeah i think it would be the wrong decision for Sprint. they will get more subscribers this way and then have them in a few years when then new 4G plan is created and cdma is out the window like i talked about before.

Paper phone.... i think we like the evo huh?

I made a paper model of one. Actually made two, because the first one didn't come out. There are six visible glue spots on the face. I think we're both at the right place.
Are you serious?? Pics?

What, didn't everyone here make one? :) I made one of the EVO and the Nexus One, just to see how they fit in my hands. :D

ha! i haven't been that crafty but i did start measuring random objects around my room to see if they compared to the evo to see if they'd fit in my skinny jeans. i sure felt pretty silly when i was sticking a bar of deodorant in my pocket.

also, hello! i've been lurking for a while but i now have a voice!

They won't sell it online until a month after it releases in stores? Damn, I wanted to get my activation fee waived and a $50 credit (for opening a new line).

Hey jon welcome!

If you call them and try doing it via telesales as a new customer they will do a lot more to help you out. When I've had to cancel a line before and didn't want to have to pay the $200 ETF they waived it. Just be nice and know what you talking about. They respect that.

Hey everyone! We've been at a tourny in PA and i haven't had internet for a few days, it made me feel kinda lonely haha.

I met with Dan this weekend and he filled me in. The phone will not be available online for a while. I know you can by it at your sprint sore and that you will be able to reserve one via telesales, i dont know about directly buying it.

8gb internal memory. Hello Android market place much?!

Ohh and all the info coming out for the incredible has been fake. If you look at the info sent in you will see what i mean- 8gb internal memory but only 512 ROM. They are the same thing so yeah... haha

The device will be released "MOST LARGELY" to the public on the 13th. I was hinted, not directly told that there was some way you can get the phone on the 6th. Dan didn't know how either but hey, if you can find out go for it.

The price of the phone will be more around $250. Government and large companies have there own round about of ordering so it wont affect the general publics sales.

Now there are some interesting things regarding if you live in a 4G market or not. There are two options being debated i have been told. If you do live in a 4G market, (and i am not sure how exactly sprint plans around going about this) you may be charged an extra fee to use 4G, and there will be a different plan for you, as compared to if you do not currently live in a 4G market you will not be charged and if you magically pick up a signal then tell me how you got it =]. The second option is what makes sense to me. There will be no charge to ONLY use the phone on 4G. However if you use it as a hot spot it will cost $10 or $15 per month.

Hope that helped and Ill keep ya posted

Jackson
Maybe Best Buy will release the phone first on the 6th with Sprint releasing on the 13th kind of like how Verizon did with the Devour?

I was expecting $299 so $250 is alright with me! The big problem again for me though is the cost of 4G. I hope it's the second option...if it's the first, I may not be an EVO 4G owner.

Thanks jackson for all the news.

For those of you who are considering the EVO but might be a little hesitant about the possible price, look at Sprint's website about trading in your current phone. I know I will probably go this route with my Pre.

I hope they don't go with the first option you mentioned..I also wonder if the hotspot feature will be something you can add or remove from your service at anytime & be pro rated for the days that you have it activated..if they do come up with a new 4g rate plan i hope it's not to much higher & includes hotspot bundled into it..

I'm still concerned with retail price for those of us ALREADY with sprint and a long ways off from our upgrade. That's what i'm waiting for, that retail price tag (before rebate), without a new 2yr. Or, will people be able to do what some have been able to do in the past and get the new 2yr pricing by "re-signing" a contract and restarting a 2yr agreement.

Yes, I am with Sprint right now and have been upgrade elibile since March but I am waiting for the EVO. Will it be $250 for me subsidized with the upgrade option as well?????????

Hey, Jackson. Awhile back we discussed the screen type for the EVO 4G as it doesn't say in the official specs what the type is. Speculation is that it's going to be TFT LCD - same as the HD2, but yesterday, SprintFun posted information along with a video saying HTC is changing screen manufactures:

Cell phone makers are increasingly using a wider array of touchscreen suppliers and HTC, a major Synaptics customer, will use rival Atmel Corp. for its next phone, Evo.
Have you heard about this or do you care to comment on it?

I would think you will get $150 off that price. The $250 guesstimate would be what it would cost a new customer signing a 2-year contract. Anyone else care to comment on this?

The $150 discount will give you the price that a new customer would get, that is the lowest price available.

I'm not due for an upgrade either until September but my other line is. I'd rather just pay for the phone outright, but I hope the retail price tag isn't too hefty or it looks like I'll have to use the upgrade on my other line and then switch over. Either way I'm getting this phone.

This is without a doubt the BEST approach. I agree with Jackson. Although, I must admit I was pretty ticked off when the after-hours customer support made a mistake and released my old phone number into a general pool, while making changes to my account. I ended up having to get a new number because of it...LOL. It all worked out in the end because I like my new number, but it was still a PITA. Needless to say, Sprint still compensated me A LOT for it because I was such a long term customer and they respected the fact that I was willing to stay around, rather than move to a new provider.

quick question about the built in flash on the browser

i live in ct and I know I won't be seeing 4g for a longggg time

so

do u think that over sprints 3g network, web pages with flash content will run as smoothly as it does on 4g?

or will content become choppy?

I want to add a line to get this phone, wait for the 30 days to expire, then cancel the line and pay the ETF with my money I get from my hero. If that is possible? anyone care to knowledge me on the subject? because if the pricetag is too hefty I will have to wait to Oct.
