My wife is having an odd problem with her OE - she's running Harmonia 2.03 with GP's latest kernel. When she takes a picture, the camera says it can't write the file. If you look in Gallery, sure enough, no picture. But when you use ES File Explorer to look in the DCIM folder, there the picture is. She says when she tries to share the pic from ESFX to MMS or Facebook, she gets an error, but it goes by so fast she can't read it.
I have no idea if this is an issue with the ROM, or the phone, or the kernel, or just a setting somewhere that's gotten flipped the wrong way. I tried looking in every setting menu I could find, and didn't see anything amiss.
She's not using an external SD card, just the 2gb internal card.
Any thoughts? Do I feel a wipe-and-reinstall coming?

Sometimes a simple re-flash is all you need. If you're using the stock camera, it sounds like that might be the case. If you're using a different camera app that you've downloaded from the play store, you may have to configure it to save things to the right location - though it sounds like they are being saved there correctly. Considering this is a new issue, I would suggest re-flashing as this isn't a problem with the ROM.
EDIT: You don't have to format /data if you're going to reflash. Just format /system and /cache once and the dalvik-cache twice.

That's what I was thinking. Follow-up (noob) question - is there a re-flash method that won't wipe out all of her apps? She doesn't have much data to speak of, but she's got tons of apps, she'd rather not have to dl and install them all again.
EDIT: I think your EDIT just answered my question. Do apps store in /data?

Yep, all user apps are stored in /data, as well as their associated data (and text messages, etc.). So if you're just upgrading a ROM, you don't have to wipe data. As for changing ROMs (you might want to look at Sleipnir for bone-stock, speed, and supreme battery life), you need to format /data in CWM or else the phone will get caught in a bootloop. The way around this is to wipe /data, flash the different ROM, and then reboot back into recovery and restore only /data from a Nandroid backup that you hopefully made just prior to the ROM flash and /data wipe, and then reboot the phone normally and you'll have your data and a new ROM, coexisting peacefully.
But, that's why, for a reflash or an update, you only need to format /system and /cache once, and dalvik-cache twice, as all changes should be in the /system portion of the ROM, which does not affect your /data partition in any way.

Perfect! Thank you so much for your help. I'll try re-flashing Harmonia tonight - other than this one glitch, my wife has been very happy with it. Someday, when I upgrade from my OV to an OE, I'll give Sleipnir a try - it sounds dreamy!

What you may even want to do is actually re-download it. Sometimes the files lose a few bits here or there when they download (which is why I recommend downloading via a computer, if possible), and that will cause problems after the ROM has been flashed 
Oh, and one more thing - you don't have to re-activate your phone when you change ROMs. Once it's been activated once, you're good to go

That's exactly what I was planning. Good to know I'm on the right track!
Interesting that you should mention activation, I had almost forgotten the other odd glitch she's been having - her phone randomly asks her to activate it every few days. The only think I could think of is that we still have her old OV (we use it as a flashlight for 3am diaper changes) and I don't know how to de-activate it. So IDK if having two activated phones on the same account is causing some kind of weird service issue, or what. You'd think that would be automatic, when you activate a new phone.... but her old phone still gets her voicemails. How weird is that?

If you have Virgin Mobile, you can change the number/activation from the old phone to the Optimus Elite she has without problem. I think it's under something called "Phone Swap," and from what I understand it's fairly painless. Then try activating her Optimus Elite, and it should be good to go afterwards
However, I would recommend doing this and seeing if that fixes the problem before going to Sleipnir if you choose to, because the apps required for Activation are not included in the current build (which will be corrected in a future build, but the issue never came up until MacFett reported it, so even I had overlooked that). Also, you're joining us in the ROM community at a time where Sleipnir is almost finished, so you're even more in luck

Go into the old phone, in the dialer enter ##virgin#. Select view, Note down the msid and mdn and make sure it matches the new phone. Select edit on the old phone, and enter 10 zeroes for both or 10 1's. That will break the activation on the old phone, and hopefully stop the issue.

Great ROM! Thanks for the work. I am sure this is a dumb question, but Google Wallet wouldn't let me sign in because it sensed this was a rooted phone and gave a security warning. Should I be scared to use some apps for possible hacking?

Not unless you manually remount the /system directory as R/W (read-write). Google Wallet should still function just fine, it just likes prompting you. Always be on the watch for potentially sketchy apps, and use common sense to choose whether or not it would be risky to use. Google Play gives you a full list of permissions that the app requires that you can read before installing the app, so you can be sure that it's not going to do something malicious. You can also look at the ratings and comments, and how many times the app has been downloaded.
I'm on a rooted phone with a custom ROM and google wallet works fine.
Make sure to reset it before you flash any ROMs. (It could break the NFC stuff see google). I had forgot to do this but was still able to go into manage apps, and for wallet clear cache, clear data, and was able to login and get it working again. (From now on I be sure to reset wallet before flashing a ROM.)
