Help Disable Vibrate for Notifications but Not for Ringer

I have a Verizon SGS3 running 4.1.1, rooted.

Is there any way to disable system vibration for notifications, but still have it vibrate when a call comes in?

Seems like those options are tied together in settings->sound->sound and vibration check box.

I don't think all phones do it that way. Not sure how AOSP does it.

Not interested in an alternate ROM, but if there's software that requires root (or not), that's an option.

Not sure about other notifications but if you go into messaging from home screen then push the menu button(left side of home button) there are separate settings to turn off vibration and change ringtone for messaging and other settings.

Thanks, but, yes, I understand that certain apps will allow me to override the system settings, but I want to have the system settings to vibrate when phone rings, but not vibrate on notifications so that apps without individual notification settings work that way.
