At this point there is no way to eliminate voice minutes using Google Voice. Any time you talk on your cellphone, using your Verizon number or your Google Voice number, it will count against your minutes. The way GV works is that when someone calls your GV number, it forwards it on to whatever phone you specify. In this case it would forward it to your Incredible, therefore, it will use your plan's minutes. When you call someone with your GV number, it first calls your phone and then calls whatever person you want to call. So it still uses your cell phone's minutes.

The only thing that GV can save you $$ on is texting. That's because using the GV app to text will be seen by Verizon as using data, and therefore it will be included in your $30-per-month unlimited data plan. So you won't have to get a texting plan on top of your data plan. Unfortunately, if you do a lot of picture/video messaging, you'll still need to use Verizon's plan. That's because Google Voice does not support MMS (picture/video/audio) messaging. Hopefully that's something that's integrated in the future.

Actually if your plan has F&F, with GV you can make and receive unlimited airtime free calls.

Another day here on the East Coast.

Let's hope for some more information today versus yesterday. I don't know if I can handle another 15 pages of dribble. There needs to be something substantive today for my sanity.

Unfortunately, it is Sunday, which has my expectations for anything worthwhile very low. Guess I'll hit the links........

South Park rerun last night had Eric sitting outside the electronics store waiting for the Wii to be released...

Dont know if this has been posted but figured I would post it anywyays.

Verizon HTC Incredible or Nexus One Release Date April 12th? (leaked email)

I like how it says living exclusively on America's Largest... That implies to me that this is is most likely the Incredible as the N1 is not exclusive.

If we look at earlier leaks, they mention a double release. Thus far all google N1 phone roll outs have been center on Tuesdays. The ATT band phone was late Monday evening (maybe the didn't want to work at mid-night?) So I think this may be a good week. I'll be doing a lot of traveling this week so hopefully they will release and I'll pick up my new toy while traveling.

The next question here is...Historically, how long after we start getting info about SKUs and warehouse inventory does a new phone get announced? And after it get announced how long till its released? 2 Part question. Just wondering if we have tried to extrapolate yet.

Not sure where you're getting your info from, but Droid is $270 for a 1-year contract- looks like all smartphones are $70 more for the 1-year vs. the 2-year. However, everyone remember that if you're on a family plan, the primary line can get 2-year pricing every year instead of every two (with a $20 early upgrade fee)..

I was big on sticking with the 1-year contract because of the same concerns with something 4G being available this time next year. However, I recently decided that I'm going 2-year and I'm gonna take advantage of the annual upgrade if there's something else I want this time next year. It all depends on where you're coming from. If you're a new customer or don't have an NE2 credit (or if you don't know if you're staying with Verizon), it might be worthwhile to be up for something new in 10 months, or able to leave in 12. No thoughts of leaving Verizon so my biggest deciding factor here was not price but losing my $50 credit. If you think about it, and it's a $70 difference (possibly more) on pricing for the Incredible between 1- and 2-year pricing, that's a $120 swing. Plus, I thought I remembered they don't wave activation unless you renew for 2 years. +$35 more.

Holy crap people... We all want the droid but get off your knees from praying... look at all the knee surgeries in this one thread.....

I'm another HTC Incredible fan getting a knee surgery. Mine's not until June 11 though and if the phone hasn't come out by then, we should all just give up. ;)

I'm new here and I admit I haven't read all 617 pages, but I was at the Verizon store yesterday and the guy told me they are scheduled for Incredible training later this month.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

@mikeb33 I've also heard that there's a "special" training coming up, but the folks didn't know what it was for yet. We were guessing that it was for the incredible as well.

Sadly, I have read all 617 pages...and the hundreds of pages on threads in other subforums (HTC Passion, HTC Bravo anyone?) and forums (Verizon Forums - Omnia II). Seriously, the last time I wasn't sucking up spare time scouring for smartphone details was last summer. I'm a bit worried I won't know what to do with myself once I have this phone. Now, seemingly all I can do is read the manual so I'll be qualified not only to operate the thing, but to train new customers. I know there's at least another on here that participated in the Verizon Omnia II thread (that thing rivaled this thread) and I'm sorry I keep forgetting who it is (:o) but to plagiarize something from that thread back in the Fall, I feel like the donkey chasing the carrot on a stick. Hopefully with a real announcement this week, we can finally stop counting on unofficial and/or leaked information.

I apologize for the vent, but much like Lost with pushing the button every so many minutes, I have to do this weekly to keep on the straight and narrow. Now, back to your regularly scheduled on/off topic conversation.

I was getting my info from the Verizon Wireless website. Here's a screenshot of what's coming up for me.

I think you are pricing it as a new customer or adding another line to the account because I am getting different prices. Also, pricing might be done by markets because I get a 70 dollar difference with new account with my zip code. Now, when I use my NE2 there is a big difference in pricing. They try hard to lock me to a 2 year contract. Below is the price difference for me between the NE2 and 1 year contract upgrade. They really stick it to me by the pricing below. My pricing is 170 dollars different.

I'm not sure if you remember me, but I was there....how many times did we get false announcements for the Omnia II....that gets old.

Last GV post from me, I promise...

Can someone tell me if there is a speed dial feature in the android app? I have to admit that I know very few actual phone numbers. I dial straight from contacts list. If I had to actually dial everyone's number in the app, I don't think I'd use it much.

I hope I am wrong, but I dont think we are going to hear anything about the Incredible tomorrow. If you look at the second leaked email the last bullet point says "It's new, it's unique, living exclusively on America's Largest & Most Reliable 3g Network." That would mean no one else has this "experience", and we all know that a couple other networks have phones that run on the Sense UI. So I really think its gonna be some POS Microsoft phone that will fail miserably, instead of the Incredible.

GOSH I HOPE I AM WRONG!!!!

The Incredible - however - is exclusive to Verizon.

After CTIA, Verizon knows better to not mention anything because they know the horrible consequences.... they get flooded with a bunch of angry tweets!

Apang, if your watching, get rid of your hangover and post us some news. From personal experience, get some greasy food and one of the large bottles of Vitamin Water Revive. Works like a charm.

I've never actually used the GV app (this will be my first smartphone), but from what I've seen, you can set it up so that whenever you make a phone call it will ask if you want to use GV or not. So you could dial from your contacts list and just choose the GV optioin when it asks.

FWIW: my pricing is also showing up the same as EgoDogg's

Thanks! I still can't figure out how to create and send a NEW sms. I get how you can receive one and reply thru email without using a text plan but how do you create and send a new one if there is no email to reply to?

You can set the app to dial all calls or select on each call. There is also another great product for use with GV called FlexDialerPro. It's $3.00 but gives you the ability to set include/exclude contacts for dialing. Great feature when you do not want to dial out through GV or answer the GV prompt on each call.

Actually Verizon is big on the short offical announcement to release time.

HTC Ozone announce June 25, available June 29:
HTC - Press Release - HTC Ozone Brings Verizon Wireless Smartphone Lineup To New Heights

Moto DROID announce Oct. 27, available Nov. 6:
Hello Humans: Droid By Motorola Arrives Next Week

Droid Eris announce Nov. 5, available Nov. 6:
Bring An Android Device Home For The Holidays With DROID ERIS By HTC, Exclusively From Verizon Wireless

I know that the Moto DROID was released more than a week after announcement, I just added it to be complete. I'm just pointing out that we shouldn't rule out a release on the 19th yet. Verizon is big on not announcing till the last minute.

True, but at least for the Droid, there was solid information leaked by this time (prior to release) that did not appear to contradict as much as the news presented in this thread.

Makes me think both the "150,000 in warehouses" and end of month release may be incorrect.
