Root Voided warranty

If your Evo breaks or whatever, and you have to send it in:
1) Who do you contact first? HTC or Virgin? I have the insurance.
2) Honestly, what will they look for besides the 'problem'? Like if it's rooted, s-off, ROMs, etc.

Just curious.

1. virgin mobile will handle all the returns and exchanges
2. i highly doubt they check it at all because even though ive never exhanged or sent in a phone, all the people here who have sent it in have had jelly bean on it, rooted, s-offed and everything and they still got their new phone with no problem. If your that worried, install the stock RUU.

i've never dealt with returns/etc with VM...I hear they are good about it though and will pretty much swap out anything. (Within reason of course.)

The reason I ask about the return thing is because before I got the Evo, I had the Triumph. One day it just completely stopped working and I called Motorola for some odd reason. I sent that in because I ordered the Evo anyway, and they said I had "liquid damage" on it. I've never had any liquid spilled on it (Everyone says that, but I'm extremely careful with my phones). When they sent it back, the phone was more damaged than when I sent it. It had dirt on the screen, glue-like crap on the sides and everything. So I called back and complained.

The repair manager said he would give me a refund on the phone (the current selling price) which is still $199 without a receipt. I only paid $220 for the Triumph so I'm only missing out on $20. So anyway, I called back to get them to give me a shipping label, and they e-mail me one that says I have a Droid phone and $100 to repair it. Everytime I call back, they do the same thing. I think they are just doing that to prolong my warranty period but who knows.

That has nothing to do with this topic but just thought I'd point that out.

That's probably because they don't make money if you don't have a working phone. If they refused to replace your phone it's very easy to switch carriers since you're not under contract.

Then VM must love me ;) In the year I've been with them I've bought...six phones? >_>;;

When I ordered replacement triumph, I only got the phone and sometime the back, never the battery unless I ask for one on a different occasion.
