Personally, I'm not a big case guy, so that won't affect me, but I would think that you're gonna need a specialized case to fit the extended back.

Thanks everyone! SO... that brings me back to my original post - these 2 items MUST BE purchased together, right? The 2150mAh battery in image #4 MUST BE PURCHASED with the back cover in Image #5....... correct?

??? It's not even close to being an eris at all. It can't even be compared.
its not that far away from an Eris...its more powerful and a tad bit bigger...but it certainly can be compared.

Not necessarily. I plan to try and buy the cover, but purchase a battery somewhere else, either for less money, or for more battery.
Edit: Or if you want a second extended battery, you might not necessarily need another cover, I think it's good if they sell them separately.

For the battery to be covered you have to buy the back with the battery, so yes. But, you are not forced to by them together. So, if your back gets messed up you can buy another back without having to buy the battery. Same with the battery.

So I know this will mean nothing to most of you but my best friend who is the data sales manager at his VZW is the first and only person to get new phones to play with and learn to teach the other associates about the phone told me last night that who was told he will be getting the incredible to play with this week. He said he thought it would be monday but if not then it will be sometime this week. I asked him when he thought it would be available for sale he told me the same end of the month date that we have been hearing about. He said he really doesnt expect to see it go on the floors till then. TIFWIW but I know I was happy to hear him say that and even happier that if holds true that I will get to see it this week in person!!! Flame on cause I know you will....

Also the fact that they aren't listed together with one pricing, but have 2 prices, and 2 different sku's leads me to believe that you will be able to purchase separately.

Must admit. A liitle jealous of the HDMI video dock. Too bad sprints data coverage is so subpar to Verizon. Incredible is still incredible.

Thank you. I guess what's throwing me off here is there appears to be only two reasons as to why the replacement backplate accessory would be listed so quickly as something to purchase with the phone:
1) It is used in conjunction with the 2150mAh battery - bigger battery necessitates a different backplate to accomodate it.
2) *shudders* The backplate that comes WITH the phone is red!!

Na, that's great man. Best Buy seems locked down as far as a release date, but everyone else seems to still have hope that Verizon will release earlier. Did he say how long they normally give him to see the phone before it's released?

No need to shudder, you can see the black backplate in the body glove picture which is not extended.

I doubt that. Look at the other covers and cases and then look at the camera and flash cutouts, and it looks like you can see that blakc back cover. The Inside is still red though because the batteries are red.

No I didnt ask but i did ask if i would be able to get it before my 4/22 trip to hawaii and he said that he highly doubts it and it would more than likely be the end of the month. he said to expect if around the 27-28 time frame but honestly did not know. he told me they are going to have a conference call on monday but didnt know who with or what about but it is normally something big (like a new high powered device). he said they had one with the droid and eris also.
Sprint uses verizons towers on 3 g as backup FWIW.

Not that this would be an exact fit, but since the Eris battery is also rated at 1300mAh I also was curious what Seidio was able to manufacture without changing the battery cover.

Which led me to the question of how much more you could expect out of an extra 450mAh? Worth the expenditure if this is the case for the Incredible as well?
