Actually it would be better on the bottom. Because when you pull the phone out of your pocket the phone will be in the correct orientation. If it's on top you'll have to readjust your grip so you're holding it right.

i see what you mean, but i don't agree. i've got an omnia and my wife has a moment. with both of these phones, even with the screen off and doing nothing with the phone but playing music, rotating the phone triggers the g-sensors and causes skipping. ironically it seems to be much worse on the moment, which is in most ways a much superior phone.

if the phone is in your pocket right side up, you can pull it out with a finger on each side and allow it to swivel as your raise your hand - much as one would hold a full soda can in a bumpy car ride. (and this may qualify as the most pedantic internet discussion i've ever had)

either top or bottom, though, would be superior to the omnia's brilliant plan of a) having no 3.5" jack at all and b) having the proprietary samsung jack be on the side.

What about when you take your phone and leave your 4g city? I also prefer the AMOLED screen. Just my opinion.

That's exactly my issue with it, especially since I read you'll have to pay extra for 4G.

I have it on my InvisibleShield right now, though it is a little hard to notice at certain angles. It definitely happens, hence why other users have mentioned it.

Yep, mine too. That's the only think I don't like about it.

Personally I like the fact that the USB is on the side to allow for docking in landscape mode- problem is that the volume rocker is on the SAME side-can't quite figure out how that will work unless they make docks with volume controls on them

Edit: Varonaid we think alike ;)

LOL! OMGosh! That's fantastic! :D

Like the bumpy surface of an orange. Kind of a rippled effect. if you look very closely at cars (even new ones) there's often a small ripple in the pain,

FWIW, love the Best Skins Ever (that's the brand). Usually about 7-8 buck for entire kit (all sides), free shipping for 3 or more, but only a buck or 2 otherwise.

DIY but very do-able

Great to know. Thanks. How "clear" are they (the Best Skins Ever)?

Exactly. I'm not sure why the story is so confident the flier is referring to the Incredible and not one of the other five new phones most of which are set to be released (and probably announced) before the Incredible.

Seriously. And, I'm not sure Anonimac ever made the leap and said that the Incredible is definitely going to be announced tomorrow. I'm sure the announcement is going to be soon, but according to the email, tomorrow is just the beginning of the journey- why start a concert with the headlining act, and end with the opening act?

Stop right there. There isn't a phone that has similar specs to the Evo. Put aside the screen size, the larger battery, the dual cameras, the 1GB ROM and 8GB internal storage, the rumored Froyo debut, and the built-in wifi hotspot ... no phone -- repeat, NO PHONE -- can compete with 4G. Its like ... a whole other G added to 3G. ;)

If you're in a 4G city and you pass on the Evo, then I have no sympathy for you and your impending buyer's remorse.

Since when does the EVO have 8GB of internal storage?

I hear all this, but anyone who has had a phone, mp3 player, ipod or even iPhone i think, is very used ot having the headset jack on top or high on a side.

Well I'm not used to it. I have an iPod Nano 2G. It has the jack on the bottom and I like it this way. It just makes sense (excuse the pun). When I get my Incredible I won't be using the nano anymore (one device for everything is my goal). So the jacks positioning does matter, and people will care - but not enough to not purchase the device.

True, as you state it. However, how much of Sprint's coverage will actually have 4G available? I have a feeling that, at least for the time being, most of the people who buy the EVO 4G (when it's released) will find themselves being stuck switching between 3G on sprint and 2G roaming on VZW...IMHO, what a waste for such a high-spec phone!

Sorry to hear that you live in the boonies, at least from a 4G perspective (for all I know your little corner of boonie-ville is quite pretty). You boonie-ville folks are going to be waiting a looooong time for 4G from anyone. So yes, you should probably get the Incredible. By the time your NE2 comes up in 2012, Verizon might be getting ready to do LTE in your town.

I put my phone upside down in my pocket so when you take it out you dont have to flip the phone. Idk its hard to put into words. I think apple did a great job putting the speakers on the bottom cause if your phone is facing up the speakers are muffled. If the phone is facing down than the speakers are facing up. Most phones have their speakers on the back which also gets muffled. Im pretty disappointed the Incredible doesn't have stereo speakers like most other high end phones. If the Incredible's speaker is anything like the Nexus One's where gonna have a problem cause its small and puny sounding.

stereo speakers on a phone are a pretty pointless thing, actually.

first, the space between the speakers will always be less than the space between your ears - so what's the point? it may be stereo in theory, but unless you've got a skull the size of a ferret's you're not going to get much out of it. many manufacters tried to make up for this with stereo "3d" type effects to enhance spatialization. personally, i really don't like those effects.

second, you're powering two speakers instead of one from the same battery.

just my opinion.

So i usually stay away from posts like the one i'm about to make like the plague because they don't really mean anything...I repeat, what i'm about to post doesn't mean anything, but nevertheless, i found it amusing.

So I visit Amazon to look for something completely unrelated for the house and in the section that's called More items to consider it shows me two items...

Amazon.com: HTC Incredible Charging USB 2.0 Data Cable for your Phone! This professional grade custom cable outperforms the original!: Electronics

and...

Amazon.com: HTC Incredible Professional Blue LED Car Charger for your Phone with digital rapid and slow charge features!: Electronics

Again, this means absolutely nothing as these are generic accessories but i found it amusing so i'm sharing.

Pretty funny. Kind of expensive though. I got a spare wall charger, car charger, USB charger and a case for my Eris delivered for $16, including tax and shipping. All of which I am sure will fit the Incredible. I really hope all these Incredible rumors pan out, because I'll bee returning my Eris next week based on the rumors. Going back to an Envy2, even for a few days is gonna be tough.

Really very simple solution here- get a set of bluetooth headphones and problem solved wont matter where the jack is. :D:cool:

Phones these days last 12-18 months for early adopters, such as most of us in these forums. Verizon isn't going to have a LTE phone any sooner than 16 months from now. I view the EVO as the bridge phone to get me to the time when all carriers have 4G options -- then I can reassess. Until then, the Evo will be the fastest phone. Period.

I want to know why you think that Veriizon wont have ANY LTE phone's sooner than October of 2011. I find it hard to believe that they wont have any by the end of 2011. Even mid-2011 at the latest. And for the belief you have that there won't be any faster phone's until then, are you saying if you're one of the very lucky few to live in a 4G area for sprint? Because you'll likely see phones with the Scropion 1.5 Ghz processor by the end of the year, coupled up with 1 GB of RAM, who knows if there will be more, and more and more phones with the large 4.3" screens (and Super AMOLED's before you know it). So I think if you have sprint 3G speeds, as well as a Verizon phone sporting the Scorpion, etc. the speeds won't be that much of a difference. And then if you look at wifi speeds, the phone with the better processor, etc. would take the cake most likely.

Although I've only made one post but read all 629 pages of posts, I'd like to sincerely thank all posters for enlightning this technology challenged
69 year old that decided to purchase a "Smart Phone" and the Incredible it will be. Again my sincere thanks but expect me to post questions after purchase concerning how to make best use of the Damn thing, LOL.

In fact my 1st question is pre-purchase; My local Verizon store stated purchase included set-up and training of phone use, is the training worth the additional $50 +/- Verizon may charge vs. Best Buy etc. for the initual phone purchase.

Now that's the way I like to see trolling done, just keep at it, your doing an INCREDIBLE job.
Incase you werent sure this is the INCREDIBLE forum.

Thanks Sport. Comparisons between the Incredible and other phones are most decidedly on-topic. Comparisons between Verizon and Sprint are off-topic but inevitable. Off-topic posts are permitted in this thread if not abused.

At least I was talking about phones, and not guns, baseball, or cardboard boxes.

Alright I am ready for my battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
As you can see I even changed my avatar just for you.

Look, troll, I would hardly call the greater Los Angeles area the boonies...but stoop to insults if you must; it doesn't make your argument any stronger. All of us know what Sprint coverage is like, what Wi-Max is, and how the EVO is likely to work for the majority of people in this country who purchase it. Please, take your EVO ranting to the EVO thread where it belongs.

At least 8MB. Maybe more. And 1GB ROM (vs 512 on the Incredible).
