Now that's the way I like to see trolling done, just keep at it, your doing an INCREDIBLE job.
Incase you werent sure this is the INCREDIBLE forum.

A few things :)

1. What is the point for most people if 3G coverage is weak? EVO is great, but a long time to roll to more cities and then the fact that Sprint covers just a fraction of the area Verizon has for 3G and even 2G. Sprint is kind of like Tmo's other tech cousin ;) My company uses Sprint and Verizon with our Crackberries and the coverage for Sprint in Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, New York, Minnesota, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Illinois is WEAK compared to Verizon. So much so, we may ditch Sprint this year. Our area and market managers hate being stuck with no coverage (key reason Tmo was ditched already).

2. Verizon has 3G almost everywhere and good enough to stream higher res video content (good enough for most). Flash 10.1 will have a perfect match with Verizon :)

3. In regards to this thread, I have never seen so MANY posts in regards to so LITTLE information. Even what we have has yet to be confirmed and quite a bit seems suspect for various reasons. This thread will EXPLODE when there is some actual confirmed info, rather than "Confirmed: Incredible is being announced on Monday!" ;)

Please remember that though you all may love your yet-to-be-confirmed-spec device, it will never love you back. It is truly an unrequited love affair ;)

Still on the fence between this and the Droid (prefer a real keyboard as an option).

We were pretty accurate from the beginning with our mock-ups.

Way to go Nash!

I put my phone upside down in my pocket so when you take it out you dont have to flip the phone. Idk its hard to put into words. I think apple did a great job putting the speakers on the bottom cause if your phone is facing up the speakers are muffled. If the phone is facing down than the speakers are facing up. Most phones have their speakers on the back which also gets muffled. Im pretty disappointed the Incredible doesn't have stereo speakers like most other high end phones. If the Incredible's speaker is anything like the Nexus One's where gonna have a problem cause its small and puny sounding.

I actually think that might be the reason for the contoured back panel. The area with the speaker opening doesn't extend out as far as other areas of the backplate. If it is laid on it's back on a table, the area where the speaker hole is located would be clear of the surface it was lain on. If the surface is reflective it may amplify the sound, but if it is laid on something like a couch or bed it might be muffled. Just have to wait and see.

I live in the first city LTE was tested in, and will roll out in, and I would rather rely on smoke signals and beating on drums for communications, than sprints hit or miss coverage.

To put the post in context, the poster is the Evo equivalent of NKT but with better and more frequent insider information. ;)

That's a pretty big spec to not reveal at the CTIA announcement. Not saying it's impossible, just the first I've ever heard of it.

Edit: On second thought, I don't see them adding it now that they've already released the specs. They aren't gonna leave anything big like that out.

I don't think it would do any good to argue back and forth, it's just my opinion that it won't have it.

I am currently saving up for an extended battery and the best screen protector, so I can buy both at once when I get the phone. I want NOTHING to be wrong with this phone, ever. (BTW, I am 20, in college, with a minimum wage, 23 hour a week job. Yes, I have to save up. lol)

I want to know why you think that Veriizon wont have ANY LTE phone's sooner than October of 2011. I find it hard to believe that they wont have any by the end of 2011. Even mid-2011 at the latest.

Big Red itself has suggested that LTE won't be retail ready until end of 2010, early 2011. Any chance that with VZW's track record, that'll slip a few months?

First LTE devices will likely be mobile hotspots and home routers, not phones. It makes sense from a commercial and engineering standpoint. Sprint did the same thing with WiMax. So the phones might start coming 6-8 months after the first LTE lights go on. So yeah, that's about 16 months.

It might be sooner. I doubt it.

It might be later. I doubt it.

And for the belief you have that there won't be any faster phone's until then, are you saying if you're one of the very lucky few to live in a 4G area for sprint?

Yes.

Although I've only made one post but read all 629 pages of posts, I'd like to sincerely thank all posters for enlightning this technology challenged
69 year old that decided to purchase a "Smart Phone" and the Incredible it will be. Again my sincere thanks but expect me to post questions after purchase concerning how to make best use of the Damn thing, LOL.

In fact my 1st question is pre-purchase; My local Verizon store stated purchase included set-up and training of phone use, is the training worth the additional $50 +/- Verizon may charge vs. Best Buy etc. for the initial phone purchase.

Technologically challlenged? You're making a good point in the appropriate forum. (There are a lot of much younger people who don't know what a forum is.) Don't sell yourself short, and welcome.

Where is everyone buying their phone? Verizon Corporate location, indirect, or best buy?

I've always got my equipment from a corporate store, but may consider best buy as they have an instant rebate. But the thought of going to worst buy if I encounter a problem with the hardware is not a happy one.

For most people, this phone isn't going to be faster for them than say a Verizon, ATT, etc. phone. So that's just a dumb statement to make and won't be a factor for 99% of the people that get this phone.

Nice...keep talking $hit ol' man...you may want to start making friends on here because you never know when you might need some assistance after your next hip replacement (when you slip outside of Macaroni Grill). :D;):p:rolleyes::cool:

Reeeeeeally? Old man? Hip? :p

Lol, the irony. :p

It hasn't been revealed for the Incredible either. :p

It's different, because none of the Incredible specs have been announced. If you don't agree, fine with me, I would rather not argue about something that neither of us can prove either way.

Dude, read my original post that got your lather up. If you live in a 4G city, the Evo is a no brainer. If. you. live. in. a. 4G. city....

If you don't live in a 4G city, then get the best whatever you like phone.

Looking the pace (and relative ease) of Android application development, I have little doubt that video conferencing, web chat, video telephony, facial recognition, and other applications will be forthcoming. Its simply too enticing of a feature for developers to ignore it, especially since more and more phones are going to include the feature from now on.

I understand the coverage concerns; they're legitimate for anyone not in a 4G market. I'm lucky enough to both live and work in the heart of one of Clear's most developed cities, so its really a no-brainer for me.

So even if the Evo is relegated to 3G, its hotspot feature is still better than any Verizon phone (8 simultaneous devices). Can you tether on Verizon? Yes, but to do it legally is expensive (more expensive than Sprint). You can do both illegally, but again, the Evo is simply more capable. And when you are in 4G coverage, throw the comparison out the window -- the Evo delivers broadband speeds. Everyone in the Starbucks will buy you a latte to get on your 4G hotspot. ;)

Phones these days last 12-18 months for early adopters, such as most of us in these forums. Verizon isn't going to have a LTE phone any sooner than 16 months from now. I view the EVO as the bridge phone to get me to the time when all carriers have 4G options -- then I can reassess. Until then, the Evo will be the fastest phone. Period.

Phone choices are personal, so be happy with what you choose. You will have a share of buyer's remorse when you see someone rockin' a new Evo in June. But such is life in modern times.

http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/54768-official-htc-evo-4g-wimax-thread.html here u go just trying to help u get to where u wanna go

Sorry to hear that you live in the boonies, at least from a 4G perspective (for all I know your little corner of boonie-ville is quite pretty). You boonie-ville folks are going to be waiting a looooong time for 4G from anyone. So yes, you should probably get the Incredible. By the time your NE2 comes up in 2012, Verizon might be getting ready to do LTE in your town.

and u live in chicago and u will get sprints 4g in what 2013 maybe so keep talkin about vzw lte because they are a company that takes pride in their network... they might not have an "Evo" but im sure they are working on phones that campare if not are better then the evo..and i would rather have company that runs off of their own towers instead of leaching off someone elses

Posted or replyed very few times. Been here from the start.

To answer the question at hand --- I am going to buy my Incredible from the first authorized seller who can deliver. Corporate Verizon - Fine. Authorized Associated Store - Ok. Best Buy -- will work. On-line -- Can do. Aunt Granny's Cellular Back Woods Phone Store -- Dont really care as long as she gets me the phone.
