Swype avail for Eris

That's what I do, and it always adds a space after the colon. I'm using the official beta version.

Hmm... I'm using Lite, but I wonder if it's decided the number is a "word" all by itself - that's the only reason I can think it would add the space. I don't see the same behavior (although again, I am on Lite).

anyone know where we can get the lastest "official" beta version? What I'm running (without problems, I might add) is Swype-SwypeReference-HVGA-trial- release.1.16.12.5228.219.

Hi...new to the forums.

Downloaded Swype Lite to my Eris yesterday and absolutely love it. Problem is, all the features don't work in every screen.

For instance, when texting, I can't tap a word to highlight it, either to get a list of possible alternatives or to delete.

Has anyone else found similar issues, or found a fix for this one?

I gave in and tried swype. Had tried Better Keyboard. Loved the voice-to-text, hated the keyboard. Tried Vlingo, again, loved the voice-to-text, hated the keyboard.
Downloaded Swype, installed it, practiced with it. YAY!! One-handed "typing" again. My thumbs feel nostalgic. Now if Swype could add voice-to-text it will be the ultimate keyboard for me.

just either put the cursor next to the word and hit the swype button, this will bring up all the different words it could have been....the feature you talking about has never worked for the eris that i know of

Ok, thanks, I'll try that...

It seems to work in some screens (email, for example) but not in others.

Weird.

The only frickin word I have problems with is "you." It seems simple...but i always seem to mess it up :(

I have no idea why I didn't download this sooner. It rocks. I think maybe it was when my husband and I saw the Omnia commercial on TV and he was like... "I bet your phone can't do that..." so without saying a word, I got on here, downloaded it and texted him "Thanks for the challange."

One thing I find weird about the commercial is that it makes it seem like it is just an Omnia thing and makes no mention of "Swype". Kinda misleading IMO. But I guess that's advertising for ya!

I wish swype had a user dictionary that we could access add and delete words. I hate when im trying to enhance my sentence with a big fat "****ing" and I always receive "ducking"

Ok, I asked this in the right spot and got nothing, so I will ask here. Can someone direct me to where I can still get Swype for the Devour. I have it on my Eris, and my brother saw it, and is driving me nuts because he wants it for his Devour.
Thanks.

Can someone tell me file size of the .apk for the best/most current version of Swype. I see 3.1 MB, 1.2MB, and 7 MB.

Best in my opinion is "Swype Lite 1.16", which is 1.21 MB (1,269,851 bytes).

I think the most recent is Swype HVGA 1.25, but I couldn't get that to work even though it claimed to be for an HVGA screen.

There's also a working one that I believe was called "Swype Trial 1.16", which is 5 MB, but I didn't see any difference between that and Swype Lite, especially for an extra 4 MB of my precious internal memory.

Pretty sure the extra bulk is for multiple languages. Also, somewhere along the line they added a bigger numpad and an occasionally helpful editing mode with big arrow keys and a select all button.

SWYPE rocks faces with fist! I wish my lappy had a SWYPE keyboard.

You've made an interesting point; I have a colleague who can no longer type with his left hand. I've been helping him get setup with voice recognition software, but I also showed him Swype on my Eris, because it provides the potential to type fairly accurately with one hand.

The thing is, in a controlled (networked) work environment there's no opportunity to use software like VNC to remotely type from a phone into a PC, via Wifi. I don't think that Android 1.5 has adequate Bluetooth support for a similar capability, although I might be mistaken. Is there a solution out there that I've overlooked?

For Android 2.1 users, is there a Bluetooth solution out there to this problem which anyone can recommend?

[ BTW, I'm nearly certain that Swype uses the same computational technique, Hidden Markov Models, as is used by voice recognition software such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking ]
