Help Bypass Setup on ICS

My original Incredible has been relegated to WiFi-only status since I got my Rezound a year ago. This morning, I foolishly accepted an offer for an OTA to 4.08.605.19 from the previous latest stock ICS version on my non-rooted phone. The Incredible got locked into a boot-loop cycle and a call to Verizon support resulted in my factory resetting the phone. Now I can't get past the activation screen (I don't want to pay for an unused phone & don't want to lose my unlimited data for the Rezound).

What can I do to be able to use my Inc as WiFi-only again? TIA

Your inc is still on gingerbread, not ICS :p That software version only relates to the HTC software, you'll notice your android version is still 2.3 (gingerbread) :D but anyway, if you just let the activation call go through and fail a couple times it will let you skip it.
 
I did run a Google search before posting here. I tried #228, I tried the tap-4-corners, i tried activating and hanging up as soon as the phone starting ringing numerous times in a row for several iterations; none of them worked for me.

Everything I have found so far has failed to work. Suggestions?
 
But finally my Inc bypassed the activation screen. I didn't do anything else, just left it plugged in and next time I checked it was at the "desktop' or whatever we're calling it.

The trick is not to hang up...just let it try to activate and it will fail. I've done it numerous times with my inc :D so now you know for next time
