Help Lots of problems oh god help me.

So last night I was having issues receiving MMS messages.

Now, I can no longer send MMS messages as well.

So in lieu of this, I decided to switch to a nandroid backup that I saved about a month ago. I swiped everything clean and ran my backup.

But now that I did that, my phone has been shutting off and restarting all day long. At least once or two every hour. I had to cut off the restart sound because it was starting to get really annoying.

And now, sometimes I can't receive or send text messages.

I removed almost all of the apps I had downloaded other than things that I paid for (which is a very slim few.) Including all the games and utilities that I no longer played or used. So I now have around 100MB of internal space, with like 700MB left over. And only 3GB of my 8GB SD card is being used.. most of which is photos and videos.

I'm still having the issues even after running another nandroid backup.

I've actually had the problems since two months after I bought the phone. And I purchased it on eBay. But they were not as bad and very infrequent at the time, so it did not bother me.

I know there are a few threads about similar issues.
But......

I already tried using a texting app - GO SMS seemed to be the one everyone else suggested. Didn't work. I tried pulling the battery. LOL no go, of course. This is really a desperate move on my part. And I tried texting from another VM phone to see if it was just one person I was having problems with. It's with everyone.

I'm running MIUI 2.4 ROM.

What can I do besides switch ROMs? I'm not completely opposed to switching, but there are not a lot of ROMs left that I haven't already tried and chucked. The one I like the most is MIUI 2.4 but now it seems it isn't running properly for me..

CM7 Is pretty stable. You could do a fresh install of the Rom you're on now. When I got the galaxy s2, I flashed back to stock and gave it to my wife...stock isn't really horrible and everything works for the most part.

okay you say you restored a backup you had a month ago. during that month did you change recoveries? and when you restored the rom did you wipe cache and dalvic

I re-rooted to CM9. I don't know how long I will keep it though without a working camera.. rcarter, I used CM7 the very first time I rooted my phone. I had problems with rebooting and something else, still. So then I moved over to the next fully working ROM, which is MIUI 2.4.

Rooting my phone last night didn't fix the MMS issue. But I'm receiving texts like normal and no reboots so far. So that is GOOD! My phone runs pretty smooth with CM9 so far, except for some lag this morning when I was trying to slide open my statusbar.. it froze everything for about 30 seconds.

@ thisguy, I did not change recoveries. And yes of course I wiped everything.

I had gotten the messages about VM making changes, and thought for a split second this might be the reason why my phone is acting up. But in my panic, I ignored the thought.

Thanks for clearing it up, aurora.

I'm going to call VM asap.

Good luck with that. Virgin mobile people are ignorant especially if u get a person u can't understand lol hopefully you'll get somebody that actually talks perfect English. They probably gonna tell you to take the battery out of your phone for 30 minutes while they reset yo network or something like that that's what they told me. That's they resolution 4 everything

I'm having similar problems. Can't receive SMS but I can send. MMS works fine. Been on the phone with VM for a while and they keep telling me to hold and transfer me elsewhere. They've reset my service and all that stuff but nothing is working.

I've been having the same freaking problem with 2.4 lately. I've been considering moving to G60s virgin mobile revamp, but to be honest it's been so long since ive done anything other than an MIUI install and used their backup format that I'm not sure what I need to do to make it happen.

Hey are you using a power management app like say juice defender? I have had horrible problems with MIUI when I used something that turns on or off radios. Literally can't get or send sms/mms or inbound calls. Then as soon as i make an outbound I'll have like 10 messages and some vm. Very frustrating. the only thing I could ever pin it on was the power/ battery management apps. And i've tried several with the same result

Also, have you tried fixing permissions?

Yeah 2.4 has not been updated since last year so I think it's a lost cause now. I have never tried any of G60's revamps.

I used power management apps in the past. I used a battery management app when I was on CM7 but quickly got rid of those apps and still had probs with CM7. On MIUI 2.4, YES absolutely those apps will screw up everything. They are supposed to help but with this ROM they seem to make the phone run a lot worse. So if you have any I suggest removing them. I also downloaded a "seeder" that someone had posted in this forum. It did not work for me. If you're using MIUI just don't download that stuff. They are really useless.

@thisguy; I know. I have not yet called VM for fear of being on hold for a long time or otherwise not being able to get any real help. But I left a comment on their Facebook page and they got back to me and asked if I had tried to reprogram the phone yet. Well, when I dial in the ##VIRGIN or ##VIRGIN# nothing happens.. I told them this and they never responded.

At this point I'm just going to wait it out. I can't take pictures with CM9 anyways and there are MMS alternatives, like KIK, that I can use if someone wants to send me something. There's also SMS and call alternatives you can use right on your phone, such as Google Voice. I used to use GV back when I didn't have a phone for a year. Granted, I had to remain in an area where there was wifi available, but it was better than nothing. :/

Le sigh... I feel like VM hates us sometims.

VM need to fix them selves up. When they started sending out messages about the update they had everything so twisted up. But they probably don't care bout the triumph since it has been forgotten by Motorola and isnt even being made anymore I hopped to the evo v once development for the triumph slowed down. I hope virgin mobile get a ubuntu phone cause that is what I have my eyes set on now.

Ah you are so lucky. I wish I could have the EVO V. I want it so so badly.. but I don't have the extra money right now and I already went through three or so phones last year alone haha. Maybe next year... I have a feeling my triumph isn't going to last much longer, which is kind of sad. Cause I really do love this phone. It's also very sad Motorola gave up on it. Kind of reminds me of those Kin phones, the original/first Windows phones, that were given up on.. I owned one of those a LONG time ago and next to my triumph, it was my favorite phone that I ever owned.

if u have to wait til next year vm will probably get another and better phone by then. imma get another phone hopefully vm will get ubuntu im getting tired of how manufacturers do updates. but the only phone im seeing right know on vm that could officially get updated is the galaxy s2. and rooting the evo v and getting jb roms is a whole new ball game than the triumph. Whenever I move on from a phone then I just give it away or I start developing on it like the triumph

Just a quick heads up, you should always call CS from a land line if possible but if you must call Virgin from your handset dialing 611 instead of the 800 number doesn't use your minutes. :D

I was told by CS that 800 numbers don't use minutes, when I called. Just thought I would throw that out there.

You can only "program" your phone from the stock ROM. This feature does not work on any of the custom ROMs.

Actually it works on quite a few roms, first go into your app drawer and select phone so that you're using the stock dialer and then for our phone it's ##CLEAR#, you'll need your msl before editing which you probably already have or just download msl checker from the play store. Good luck. :D

Yes, I had programmed my phone in the past on a custom ROM.

Thanks for the info, and to everyone else also.

My MMS seems to have worked itself out yesterday, thankfully. I was able to successfully send and receive MMS messaging and have done so since. I got a huge flood of about 15 MMS messages all at once yesterday, though. It was not so nice. >_<

EDIT *** Guess i was late in my response . Glad it worked out for you.

I would do a full wipe of everything and a fresh install of MIUI. I use 2.4.2 and I have no issues at all with sms or mms I did have issues using CM7 but never on miui . You can try flashing the older miui rom they have on here.
