my s3 is turning into a slow annoying laggy phone. I don't know what to do with it. it takes forever to do anything like open up text messages. my phone is not rooted. does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? reset? this is really frustrating this used to be the best phone i ever owned

Do you remember if the slowness begun just after the 4.1.1 update mate?

And does a reboot not fix it?

S3 users can breathe new life into their device by using the recovery menu to wipe the cache partition.

Step 1 - Turn off the phone.
Step 2 - Press and hold the Volume Up + Home buttons together, and then press the Power button for about 5 seconds.
Step 3 - You are now in the Recovery Menu. Use the Volume down key to highlight "wipe cache," then when it's finished that procedure, the "reboot now" selecion will be highlighted: press the Power button briefly to reboot.

Theres also app cache cleaner apps which (i know they shouldnt be needed nowadays) blow the cobwebs out a bit.
I use "App Cache Cleaner" (the one with the green circle logo) one-touch widget if ever my keyboard feels a bit off or pics take a long time to load on tapatalk

turn off the power saver too.

That ^ lol it underclocks your CPU (ive heard 800mhz or 1ghz) so it turns your high-end phone into a mid-range but its handy when u wana save battery but arent rooted :)
Mine runs fine at 600mhz for calls/txts but gets all jerky and laggy for browsing or scrolling the UI

That doesn't wipe your phone like a factory reset, does it? My phone has been kinda laggy since the update.
