S3 Storage, SD card?

Ghost10bxl

Okay, so I recently checked on my storage as I downloaded ton of apps, and have loads of pictures, music etc.

So this is my storage:
Apps - 2.84GB
Pictures, Videos - 3.20GB
Music (Audio) - 4.08GB
Downloads - 10.48MB
Misc Files - 207MB

Available - 667MB

You can probably guess I have 16GB model international.

So what I want to know is I am looking to buy an SD card. What will be able to transfer on my SD card so, I will buy accordingly.

I am going to transfer Music and Pictures to my SD Card, is that alright?

That will free about 7.28GB of memory from Actual Phone so I'll buy a 16GB card? Or 8GB?

Will that affect how my phone works? Like slow it down or apps don't work properly?

Thank God I kept my S3 over Nexus 4 because I wouldn't get this option lol :)

Thanks

I'd say buy at least a 16GB card. You already have over 7GB in Music and Pictures. It won't slow your phone down at all. All your pictures/videos/music will go on it. As far as I know you can't put apps on SD cards. Hope this helps :)

Music can be manually moved, as can pictures. Hwoever, you also need to set your camera to store to the external sdcard.

App data cannot be moved to SD without root.

Some say SanDisk large capacity get trashed. My kingston has held its own

I look on Amazon myself too. I prefer it when Amazon are the seller rather than 3rd party because returns are easier.

Card readers are easy but be careful of sony because they make their own cards that are not micro sd. The one you linked I'm sure isn't micro sd

Plenty here though

Well I'm not really looking for a reader but anyway is that card fine? Or should I look for another one?

when buying a micro SD card, just make sure it's class-10 as well.

Does it really matter when it is just for storage? Remember, you can't put apps on the SD card (at least without rooting the phone) so I seriously doubt the speed should matter at all displaying photos or playing music.

Must admit i havent noticed any difference between my class4 and my UHS... maybe because i have my music player set to buffer?
Anyway the price difference was so small i thought i might as well get the Ultra

It depends if you're recording and playing back hd content

Well, the only HD content I have is the Avengers movie I got for free from T-Mobile, and that is on the internal memory. There doesn't seem to be a way to move it to the SD card, probably because they don't want you to be able to use it on another device.

Not true. I move the Avengers to my External SD. Put in a folder named Movies. No problem playing it. Also if you use the camera to record moves they should be stored on the External SD.

OK, you motivated me to play with it and I got the movie moved over to the SD card and deleted the copy on the phone. Nice, thanks, lots more room for apps. But is there a way to get the media player to list it? I can play it from the card with the file explorer but I can't see a way to get the MediaHub to look over there.

What size card did you use since I am experiencing sd card problem with data disappearing. from my 64gb Sandisk. Sprint repair location manager confirmed that know issue exist. Not sure if Kingston, or samsung sd card is the way to go. I installed a app that test SD card and it validated that card is okay. Card works on my pc, and I upgraded from a 32gb that worked perfect.
