Help Any SD prep needed?

I just received my 64gb SD card in the mail yesterday and want to put it in my phone. Is there any sort of prep I need to do? Sounds like a ridiculous question but this is my first phone that accepts outside storage so I'm new :p

Hello Moozilla. Congratulations on getting such a high capacity sd card. I did nothing when inserting my 32Gb into my Note 2.

Keep in mind that nothing much goes there as far as apps/widgets, etc. Just media unless you root and use one of the "apps2sd" programs out there, or some other trick that often ends up with the user asking for support on various issues. :)

I take a ton of pictures, which is what I am hoping to store on the card. I also have an increasing music library. Hopefully both of those can be stored on my card (mainly the photos).

You don't need to do anything. Just pop the card in and you should be good to go. The Note 2 recognizes exFAT format which the 64GB cards are using as default.

Keep in mind, if you decide to flash ROMs, the aosp ROMs can't use the exfat format.
These still require FAT or FAT32 formats? I guess that's what the bootloader can recognize? But then I have a lot of left over 2GB microSDs from my old phones. So no real need to worry about that (unless the ROMs themselves are greater than 2GB). Otherwise a cheap 8GB card should do. No need to use the 64GB for that.

The ROMs don't change the bootloader.
It isn't about the size of the ROM's zip file. It's about not being able to use your exfat formatted sdcard with an aosp ROM. So if you have pics, vids, music, etc on your sdcard you can't access them if your on an aosp ROM, and it can be corrupted.

Oops. Sorry thought you were talking about flashing a ROM and not using the ROM. :o

The only prep I did was putt buttloads of music on it. Once I put it into the phone Poweramp did it's usual scan and I was all set.
