Root Something is running my battery down and I can't figure it out.

Every since I rooted my phone, my battery life has been quick! Even with moderate use of my phone I could use 10% in 15mins. This includes texting, calling, and a lil internet..

I tried to figure it out, I've frozen all the stock apps in the phone. Uninstalled Juice Defender... and still even when the phone is idle it drops like 2% like every 15mins with the phone on idle.

Before I got rooted and using Juice Defender I can turn the screen off, sleep over night and lose about 3% in 8hrs. So, I tried using JD again but it seems to not have the same effect on rooted phones.

How do I figure out what's running the battery and address it. on my LG Esteem.

What which rom are u. Using cause u can freeze 2 i know that caused the phone to die but keep in mind the screen eats up and take it off the sensor ..freeze the drm and the dun . If u do that it should give u some playtime .

Can i ask did u clean battery stats and is all app uptodate cause if a appis outdated it wii cause the phone to lag this lagging would cause battery to push more power causing the battery to drain first clear battery stats . It is many app to clear battery stats . Once done go into playstore and make sure all apps are downloaded .

Do you have a weak signal where you are? A weak signal is a huge battery drainer. If you are already rooted, why not just install #2 rom? Battery life will just about triple.

I found a problem with some #2 roms but you need to know the systems files before you can find out what's wrong but if and when u do check out the bin files and xbin files . Busybox and toolbox and amplets . Check to see some missing . And sometimes update busy box and amplets will do the job .. and i know your new to the scene but build.prop tweaking will do a lot i got my wifi down to 15 where as its to 180 in the number 2  so reset your battery stats check your signal and make sure apps are up to date :D:thumbup::cool:

I found the problem a few days ago. It seems because I was freezing apps instead of deleting/uninstalling them in TitianiumBackup, seems like the effort that it took to keep them frozen was running the battery regardless of any simple measure of battery saving I did.

Freezing apps shouldn't drain battery, if anything it should save battery because they aren't running in the background

Well, somehow that's what was making the battery drain.. after I unfroze them the phone cooled down and JD was able to work like normal... now I get like 15+hrs on the battery. But, Like I said... once I get my new SD card... I'll flash my phone to the #2 rom

Not to be funny but can i ask what did u freezeeee give a list cause it may been something that wasn't to be touched . The phone is like a cook book if u add to much salt and not enough water it will show in the end with a bad taste .

How about make a copy of the rom and just flash a new rom from the number 2 cause the factory has some things that is security issue like the app my metro big big problem and very tricky and scarey if you new to the rooting scene :what:

I use this amazing app to monitor CPU usage, battery, and what apps are using more power

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.systempanel.r1

They have a free one. But it's worth paying for. Discovered that an older version of Fb sucked down power, while the newest one uses much less

I use FriendCaster, it's not visually better but it doesn't consume a lot of CPU.

I'm still having issues with this battery dying so fast. I don't know if its the Stock Kernal that came with the number 2 rom or something within my kernal settings that's the problem...

Is there any basic CPU or Kernal settings I could do to stop this from happening. I've calibrated the battery and everything and it seems to still want to drain fast. The only thing keeping it from going down faster is the Deep Sleep battery saver app I downloaded. At Max I can get 15hrs out of it.

Here's a screenshot and one more thing... I talked on the phone with a friend for 30mins and went from 27% to 13%... either something is wrong with the ROM or my phone itself cause that shouldn't happen.

Looks like I can upload files on this site from my phone.

We can help u but somethings u need to try and u have to have some knowledge on how to work with roms. Nothing is going to work like it did when u brought the device from the store shelf. And it is told in the print FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK. we all find and fix problems to help each other out something i might see and have a fix for or you may do the same. But it is a learning experience for all :cool: now the battery problem u are having is from missing amplets and some phone issues like bright screen and the update of emails and etc to fix the problem with your rom 2.7 takes notes and work. The key word is Trial and Error . One test u can try is dl both roms on a pc and and compare files and take notes see what each file do and does for the phone .:confused:
