Where's JellyBean???

finally got around to rooting! Considering I knew nothing about it until I read the link it was actually pretty easy, just have to follow the steps carefully.

ViperXL 3.2.4 with jellybean FINALLY. :)

I didn't even know there was an OTA update. Just checked the software update and what do u know. Just like that I'm going from 3.2.3 to 3.2.4. Only 39 mbs but at least Team Venom is updating their ROM unlike at&t!

I wouldn't know how to react if the GS II gets jelly before the One X on at&t.

Just read an article that the GS II JB update is coming March 1. Pretty sure that is Samsung's date, not carrier. But that still is way more informative than AT&T's 'coming soon'.

I officially gave up on this update happening. And I just sold my one x. It was a great phone. I just didn't want to waste and just collect dust on my desk.

I die a little inside when I realize the irony in AT&T's slogan on my startup screen.

Us:
"It's possible we might see JB this month!"

AT&T:

I got an update from a email i sent HTC.

"Dear Chris,

Thanks for contacting HTC Technical Support Center, in regards to the software update release.

We understand how important it is to have the latest updates for your device, and I know that not receiving the update is preventing you from fully enjoying your phone.

Chris, Our goal has always been to provide you with top of the line devices as well as a spectacular HTC experience, I am sorry to hear that in this case your experience has fell short of your expectations.

I want you to know that here at HTC we are also excited about Android JB update and are planning to support it across a variety of our devices.

Please keep in mind that the every software update needs to be tested prior to release.

This is why HTC does not announce dates for release of software due to the nature of the software development process. At any point in the software development cycle a situation may be encountered that requires anything from some minor additional rework to complete rewrites of the software base.

Only after the final acceptance testing has been successfully completed will HTC release the software.

The Software Update is thoroughly tested to ensure it will not cause any conflict with our HTC Sense User Interface, after tested the update is released to the carriers and the release is at their discretion.

I know this is probably not the answer you are looking for, however at this point we need to ask for patience, keep in mind that the update is released to improve your experience, and rushing it would be irresponsible on our part."

Seeing how that got moved, I would like to say that I am super jealous of anyone who is smart enough to root. I swear I followed the directions, and it doesn't work. FML.

It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was gonna be. The toolkit made it super easy IMO. What part did you get lost on?

(mod added) - Let's discuss it in the thread linked above. :)

I have an idea.

Why doesn't AT&T release the JB update to all the *current* One X users, and then stop selling the One X entirely? It's already two phones behind, and they're obviously not out to make money with it.

So why not give the loyal customers their due, and then cut your losses on a phone that you aren't interested in supporting in the future anyway? Everyone "technically" wins.

I just got it too, by OTA. I wasn't able to get the last one OTA for some reason. It took about an hour, but no issues so far. YAY! Lovely jelly beans! Question... What's the new thing that shows on the status bar that looks like an "N' or a lightening bolt? I thought it must be a link to Google now, but it doesn't do anything when I tap on it and it disappears when I pull down the notifications.... Probably a stupid question, but I'm a little three sheets to the wind right now. TIA.

It's telling you that you have near field communication turned on

Just tried to update to no avail. Says checking then goes right back to check for updates page. No messages or errors. Wondering if this is a staggered release?

Got mine right away. I now feel empty inside. What am I going to search for on the interweb now that this wait is over? Screw you AT&T for giving me this update!

Chances are it is

I've asked HTC about this with past updates and they do it in batches of IMEI. Once a certain percentage of the previous batch has accepted the update, it will be made available for the next batch.

Updated with no issue last night. Is it worth it to turn on the power saver feature?
I mean I have the juice defender app, so I'm not sure it'll bring anything more.

^ with regards to that "power saver" feature.. how the hell do I remove the notification from my status bar? That is absurdly irritating and I don't care to have it up there at all times, especially when it's not checked on.

Anyone? I'm not rooted..

I remember seeing a post or video about going into settings then app and going to all apps and finding the app and selecting to turn off notifications.

I got an update the other day also..but when I go to check the version it now says android version 4.1.1..are you all sure it is JB you got and not just some other update? Plus my husband also got it, for his HTC Vivid which was not suppose to get JB. My phone does have some of the features that people describe for JB.

I saw the same thing (I think), it said to go to the "power" app and to turn off the notifications there.

Which would be ideal, but my menu for the app is grayed out - can't get to the toggle to turn them off. =( Some people are reporting that they don't even see the app in the list.. so strange.

Im still not able to get the update.
I check for updates it sits there for about 15 seconds then goes back to check for updates again.

I just might have to take a friend up on a offer to trade his Iphone for a android. I would love to stay with android but another thing i am looking at is app support. Even the company i work for really only supports Apple, same with my headphones for the extra buttonsm and even my own bank.
