Help Galaxy Note 2 Screen Lock Setup

I am trying to set up the screen lock using the pin number type. After setting uo the new pin and backing out of the settngs, then I click the power button on the upper left region of the device I so to put the phone in "slee mode"

Next, when I press the power button again, then i swipe the screen, it goes right to the phones home screens and. Content. Only when i turn the phone completely off then power back up does the keypad display requiring the pin to unlock.

How do I get the phone to go into the lock mode with the pin required access EACH time the power button is pressed?
 
Do you have this box unchecked? I use a pin also and it works just fine.

Thank you, Almath! That fixed it! Plus 8 had to adjust the timeout setting like in your pic. Youre a lifesaver

Hey speaking of the Note2, I notice theres no 'exit' buttn like the browser does for earlier versions ot android..or is there?
 
No exit button that I've ever seen, just either back buttoned out or pressed the home button. I do use Boat Browser and they have an exit button. 👍
 
Thank you for confirming that. I was hoping I was overlooking it..... I did download and install flash. I hadnt noticed the note 2 was shipped without it.


My trusty buddy T.E.D.IV wentbto that unlimited data cloud in the sky... his memory lives on in T.E.D. V (note 2). It was sasad day pulling his plug... Please check out Amdroid Forums Cell Phone SIMetery.
 
If you are using the stock browser, simply press the muti-tab button (icon with 2 windows layered over). Press the minus button on all the tabs and it will exit out.

Edit: you can use both swipe and pin together. I found it useful with shortcuts on the lock screen. Swipe the app I need, enter pin and use it right away.

Even for other browsers, you just need to hit tab that'll allow you to see all the open windows and there should be a X to close out those windows (if no longer using). I use chrome and Firefox primarily and both browsers have that.

I'm mostly okay using the stock browser. On the odd occasion, I will use Opera or Chrome. Opera has an exit button, so no problems there (with the exception of activating the exit button on first go). I have to close all windows on Chrome and then hit the back button to exit the browser.

Wish they would give the option to the user to simply exit the app rather than jumping hurdles to get it done. I understand there are those that need it running in background, but there are others that prefer to completely exit out. Yes there are browsers that do this, but I prefer not to install apps I really don't need as the one I am currently using is fine (despite its little quirks).

Just curious, is there a particular reason that you prefer "x'ing" out of the browser, vs. just using the home button to exit out?

Thanks, you guys are all very helpful. I am getting acquainted more and more with T.E.D.5 and finding that i do like the new features over the dell streak. Makes you wonder why didnt they just keep the exit menu option like the 2.2 android version browser.....if its not broke-why remove it type of thing.

Actually for me, I want that little bit more performance especially when running multiple apps. If I don't need the browser, I want it out of the way. I don't need in the background taking up RAM and CPU cycles. I do this with all other apps. It's just the browser is really annoying that I just simply can't exit the app without having to resort to other means of doing it.

Definitely understand that. It's the reason that I usually use the back button after using the browser or just closing out the tabs
