Sprint SD Question

Considering trading my eensy Optimus for a Sprint Galaxy Nexus, since they’re offering it for nothing but another two years. But I notice that the Samsung page says “Internal Memory 32GB,” and no mention of an SD card.

Is that built-in 32GB just doing the same job as an SD card?
Is it also accessible to my PC via USB?

Obviously, two simple questions to everyone but me...

Yeah I already have a sprint Gnex and yeah the 32gb can be accessed by usb. Its built in the phone. And only the sprint version has 32gb the rest has 16gb.

Actually, the Verizon version has 32GB as well.

The Nexus uses MTP (instead of USB mass storage) to allow access to the internal storage. If you use a PC (as you stated you are), it will work seamlessly. If you switch to a Mac, you may need to download the Android File Transfer program. If you use Linux, it is a little more complicated - but doable.

Oh well, I’ve been dissuaded anyway. Being just over a year old, it’s already ‘ancient’ and doesn’t do 4G right, or so I’ve been told.

I to once had an LG Optimus on Sprint and also went with the Sprint Galaxy Nexus. There's no need for an SD card like you needed for the optimus. The SGN, internal memory is a whopping 32 gigs. Never (well almost) will your phone tell you to delete files to download text msgs, or that there's no room to install an app. Get the GSN!!!!

Bro the S2 and the previous nexus threads are still active.
I think the gnex thread will be active for a long while

Also remember, you're upgrading from your Optimus, so it's already a huge jump to start with. You'd be very hard pressed to find a better upgrade at zero cost to you, especially considering that the phone really isn't that outdated. Put it up against some of the newer phones, you'll still win. I can't say for the service on the Sprint version, but when you couple the Rooting community with the phone, I'm sure there will be very little that isn't already, or won't be, addressed as far as concerns go. Curious as to what reasoning you were given as to why it "doesn't do 4G right", though..
