Hello sschevy. I want to make sure I understand your question. ;) You want to remove the sim from a T-Mobile device and use it in a device from another carrier? Or do you want to use the sim in a different device with the same carrier?

I think he means can he use his broadband device's sim card in a mobile phone.

The reason is because he wants just the data service without the phone service.

if 5gb of mobile data is enough t mobile does have the $30 100 min unlimited text and web with 5gb at full speed.
I do not know if the mobile device's sim card will fit. If it did I would expect it to work.

Where do you see this T-Mobile Plan with unlimited text and web @ $30??

EDIT:

Nevermind, I have located it. I really had to search for it. I will go for that. LOL

My TMobile prepaid tablet plan does not work in my S2. The phone card in the tablet allows texting but not data.

Just to make sure this is easy for those who didn't see it but may be interested, here is the way to get the $30/month play with 100 min talk and 5 GB data (data throttled to 2G after using 5 GB, is technically unlimited) if you don't need a phone or don't want to buy it through T-Mobile or Walmart.

First, get the SIM Activation Kit for T-Mobile Monthly; it costs 99 cents with free shipping. You can buy the Activation Kit in local T-Mobile stores but they tend to charge close to $10 for the same kit.

Once you have the SIM and are ready to activate, activate it online. When it has you choose the plan, make sure you select the $30 plan, make sure you select the right one -- there is also a 1500 talk minutes or text.

The $30 plan is only available online or from Walmart. However, if you have any problems trying to get the SIM activated online, it will give you a phone number to call. Don't hesitate, if you are having issues, to call for help with activation or you can even go to a T-Mobile store. Just be sure to tell them you tried to activate online and you want the $30 "Walmart" plan with 100 min. and 5 GB.
