Eris to v2.x, when?

I hope so. I am seriously hoping it helps with the lagging UI. I like what the Eris can do, but I think it just does it slowly :)--especially when dialing.

The dialing issue is something I've never experienced with mine. But I tend to delete my call history. I've read this helps, but I was already doing it, so I don't know if that's why. Then again, you may have known that already. If not, try it out and let's see if it helps.

As far as anything else lagging, the only time it happens for me is when I'm here in the hospital, in a section where there's absolutely no signal at all, including 3G. Don't know why that is, when I'm not trying to use anything that needs a signal.

Ha! Actively moderated? Just what are they moderating? Language - no. Content - no. On topic - no. This is like any other forum, as long as the conversation generates controversy or offers the opportunity for smart a$$ responses the forum owners love it. Hits = mo' ad revenue. This thread should have been closed a long time ago.

After reading the first 1000 posts I determined that this thread was heading to lala land, I mean there were discussions here about which team you play on and I don't mean baseball (not that there's anything wrong with that), any who as a joke or because I was bored I started another thread called "Still not here yet" and promised to check every hour for the update. I did not expect anyone to really reply but OMG here they came half making light of the thread (which it was meant to do) and the other half insisting I only post when I really got the OTA and calling me names. I in turn responded by uhmm well, ok I kinda wasn't real nice and before I could really get into a flame war... the Moderators removed it to area 51. So my take is this, I think they are actively monitoring the threads and if this one got nasty you would see the brooms come out. Until then they'll take almost 1/4 of a million views even if it is boring.

Good post. +1.

I saw it somewhere in this thread or some other thread on how to diss the update by changing out the sd card after the download but before you install is this possible or just babble.

Hi,

I dont want to cross post or anything, but I thought I should share this information. I have heard this same story from a buddy who lives in NJ and thought bs but saw this as well. Just thought I would contribute

Droid Eris Now Available With 2.1 OS... - CNET Cell phones Forums

First, Welcome to the forum.

Second, I have heard people saying that some stores have the Eris and it is already running 2.1. I have yet to see one, but that doesn't mean all that much. I wonder if the stores are loading it themselves, if they are refurbs that someone installed 2.1 on or if they are a batch that came from HTC with 2.1 installed. I guess we will only know when the OTA hits.

It is promising though. Thanks for posting.

Anyone with the update already can confirm [or not] if the update fixes the issue of having to have around 60mb of free space to power off/on the phone and not get all those force close errors [and it doesnt find the network]. I'm curious if the update fixes this? My Eris is still on 1.5 and if there is like more than around 92mb of space used when I turn phone off then back on, i get force close errors and phone doesnt find network and i have to free up space and restart the phone.....

Did you try deleting some apps? I had the same problem and this helped

Yea, i mean that works, i just didnt know if the update [and when i said update i was referring to the leak] gave you some more leeway on how many Mbs you can use before that issue starts presenting itself....since i havent made the leap into 2.1 leak yet, i was just wondering if anyone has used more space than 91mbs and turned the phone off n back on successfully without those issues arising...and if so, what was your mb useage

Motorola posts Android 2.1 upgrade timeline for its smartphones Unwired View

I appears that there is a nice schedule for all of the motorolla devices and when 2.1 is coming out on them. I just wish we were given a timeline at the very least...

We have a timeline from them. Here it is:

January 2010 - tell our consumers we will give them 2.0.
February 2010 - laugh at our customers for believing us.
March 2010 - tell them all end of Q1 to sound legit.
April 2010 - repeat laughter....tell them Q2...and so on and so on....

You get the idea.

Just got off the phone with Verizon.

Spoke to a CS Rep, and asked him if I could upgrade my software. He put me on hold for a couple of minutes and then returned to say that the HTC Eris OTA started 4 days ago and will take 2 weeks in total for all phones to receive the update.

He said that it will be a very obvious update screen when it comes through, and it will ask whether to install or install later. He noted that I will have the 2.1 on my Eris within 10 days from today.

Sounds promising.

I will believe it when I see it. I hope he's right.

Something like I was saying in the previous page. We'll have it by next Friday, maybe before. Either way, I'm fine with 1.5, especially now since my Navigon decided it wants to act right. It probably got word 2.1 was coming to my phone, and didn't want to get tossed.

Yea, I hope so. If they did start 4 days ago, I would imagine it was an internal OTA for testing like they did with the Droid.

If what he says is true, I think someone from these forums would see it by at least the end of this week, or the weekend at the latest.

We shall see.
