Help Error Code 9230

Okay, so just this morning I was trying to send a text message to my boyfriend and immediately I got this text.

"You recd this msg because you sent a text to a number without area code or used an invalid short."

So I Googled it. Seems like a common occurrence on Sprint networks. Most of the threads that I found suggest things like clearing data, cache/factory reset, pulling the battery, rebooting the phone, clearing contacts list or deleting the particular contact. Some people seem to have fixed the problem by simply erasing all their text messages.

I tried ALL of this. I have re-rooted about 4 times now just this morning. Between my two backups and between new and fresh zip installs. That did not fix the problem. I have tried texting myself, texting my mom, etc. None of which will send. It has nothing to do with whether or not the area code is in the number. I always put the area codes when I save a phone number as a contact. So, I already have the number+area code in there. I also went in and added +1 and parentheses around the area codes, to all my contacts. Still no dice.

At this point, I am considering reverting to stock ROM and calling VM. I know they were doing updates not too long ago. And I experienced a problem with sending and receiving MMS messages. I tried contacting VM at that time, but they told me they could do nothing with my phone being rooted, and because I couldn't format my phone using #VIRGIN#. Irregardless, the MMS problem worked itself out within a week or so. I'm almost wondering if this has something to do with that update. I never experienced this problem with my phone until today. But it seems so long now since the "update", that I guess I feel I shouldn't be having any problems...

Anyone else having or had this problem before? What'd you do to fix it?

IF you don't get any better ideas from anyone else, I'd try flashing back to stock. If nothing else, VM might be more willing to try & help you with the problem if it is still unresolved...

Actually my gf is having the same problem. Came here for solution but I guess there isn't one yet. Must be something with the network I'm guessing.

I had that problem for a few days while they did upgrades last month. I had to put the area code on my contacts. It fixed most of the issue, but I still got that error for a day or two with one person on Sprint. I'm on a stock rom.
