I was just glancing at the headlines at some of the various tech news sites that cover phones, and with everything that's come out in the last few days about accessories, demo phones, deliveries, training dates, other stores that will also sell the Incredible, what's on the menu at Macaroni Grill, etc., that Verizon had better hurry up and make their 'surprise announcement' to introduce the Incredible, otherwise, there won't be a single part of it that's still a surprise.

I know this is my first post so don't judge because I am going to make a bold statement. Keep in mind, I have been following the incredible news daily for roughly 3 months.

Called 611 in my phone tonight to ask about the htc incredible. The guy said he hadn't heard of it. Asked me about it and I told him the specs. I asked if he could seach it in his system. He search it and said that it would be released on the 29th but has no futher info on the system.

So it's offical the 29th it is. I'm just happy i'm on the east coast, i'm that impatient!

Give 611 a call yourself. Don't take no for an answer and dig for info!

Wow, the 34,552nd post has made the launch date "official", good work.

Gotta double shift tomorrow so gnite everyone. Damn, imma have a lot of posts to go through

I had an incredible dream. I came on here and it was announced. It felt so real!
THE 29TH CANT COME SOON ENOUGH!

Alright, does anyone have any experience with Verizon's flexibility on the NE2? My NE2 is up on May 3rd, but I'm wondering if I went into the store the weekend before, if I could get a customer service rep to fudge the 2-day difference.

I'm fishing for some advice on upgrade strategies. Here's the situation: about 40 days ago my Storm crapped out on me for the LAST TIME and, unable to go without a smart phone, I picked up an Eris and agreed to a one year contract. I have just under 11 months remaining on that contract. I love the Android OS and for the most part I dig this phone, BUT it could use a more robust CPU, among other things. Enter the purportedly soon-to-be-released Incredible. If the specs are correct, it is exactly what I want (see, I'm actually on topic here). My dilemma: how do I squeeze an Incredible out of Verizon (when it is finally released) so soon after getting the Eris? Had I known for sure that the Inc was coming out in April, I would have returned it within the 30 day window, but after CTIA, things looked sort of dubious. But maybe not all is lost. I have three other wireless lines with Big Red, two of which are out of contract: (1) a second phone, a Juke, which I carry as a backup/compact phone. It's out of contract (and it's the primary number on the account), but I love it and I plan to keep that phone. It has text messaging, but data is pay for play; (2) a USB broadband modem ($59.99/mo.) which is also out of contract and which I also plan to keep using daily; and (3) another simple flip phone that a friend uses on my plan for $9.99/mo. I recently added him to my plan an about 9 months remain on that contract.

I don't mind putting up a *little* cash to get the Incredible if I must, but I do NOT want to increase my already prohibitive monthly costs. I have always agreed to at most one year contracts in the past, even though it costs a little more up front, but I might be willing to extend to two years on one/some of my phones if that would be a useful bargaining chip.

Does anyone have a suggestion for how I might best negotiate with the VZW reps at my local store when the Incredible arrives? These guys seem to be willing to barter so long as they are squeezing some money out of you one way or another.

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

(Wow, it was painful typing all of that on my Eris).

Go in and tell them you want to use the Juke line's upgrade for your phone. Should cost you the two (or one) year price. Then either sell the Eris or keep it as backup. The Juke will be renewed, but they will instantly recertify the Juke on its line and put the Incredible on you current Eris line.

At least that is what they did for me when I used my sister's upgrade for the Eris.

And by the way, I am in a similar situation. I got the Eris, heard of the incredible, but was lucky enough to be able to return it on day 29. I now have a dumb LG lip phone. Is is a real shock to not have internet (more importantly email) all the time.

What if you upgraded the second phone to an Incredible, got rid of the USB modem, then used the Incredible as a modem (i think thats how tethering works). The $60 you would save by getting rid of the usb modem would allow you to afford the new data plan.

Generally speaking, VZW will let you upgrade your phone/renew your contract 90 days before your actual contract date is up. So, if by your NE2 being up, you mean your 2 year contract, then you should be able to sign a new 2 year and get your discount right now. If what you meant was that your 90 day buffer before your contract is up happens on May 3rd, then it probably depends on who you talk to on the phone or at the store and what kind of mood they're in. What you might want to do is give a call and ask them that question. Do not necessarily ask about any particular phone, but whatever (other) reason you may have for wanting/needing to order a new phone a couple days early and see what they say. If the CSR you talk to gives the green light, then have him/her make a notation in your account notes, so when you call or go in on May 1st, they'll be able to see in the notes that you have approval. From talking to a few CSR's, this is what I've gleaned from them. Of course, not every CSR has their information straight all the time. Heh, go figure, they're human, too.

does anyone know the part number for the battery? since it is 1300mah is there a good chance it will be BTR6200 like the Eris? cause i have 3 of those and it would be great to have 2 phones that use the same battery.

By "searching his system" he probably did an internet search which directed him here. Your "official" release date was probably retrieved from the same place you've read it all along. Just about everything out there has been sourced from this very thread. If there's not a press release on Verizon's website, it's not official.

He says he did a "system search" (what ever that means). It sounds like various Verizon corporate employees are starting to get info about the phone which is a very good sign.

You don't have to be a jerk about it. Maybe he is right. Today is the day that it is officially in Verizon's system and there will be a thousand posts and screenshot pics proving so. Like he said, check for yourself.

Yes- if you log in via the browser, that will work.. The only apps that support multi-touch are the browser and Google Maps.. Unless 2.1+Sense brings along some nice, unexpected surprises...

here's hoping

Naw, stock gmail app has it, gallery, a few other places...

I don't remember when my contract is up, but when I login it says I can upgrade on 7/21. That is way too long considering I hate the phone I have now.

if you currently do not have a smart phone...and wait until the Incredible is released...you may be able to convince them to upgrade you. If you are nice about it and have reported problems in the past about your phone, i would just go in and ask what the early termination fee is because you are unhappy with the phone you have and you are going to go with an iPhone.

Just say i would love to stick with verizon if there is way way they can put you in the Incredble early:p

Ok I am going to try to keep this is on topic as possible and also ask a question that may not have been brought up. I have been doing alot of research on the new LTE system we are going to be seeing our way in the next few years. LTE will be a SIM based technology shared with at&t and T-Mobile. With that being said is there any possibility this phone could be shipped with the ability to accept an LTE SIM? Also not sure if anyone out there is the know, other than the ability to accept a SIM what makes it LTE enabled?
