So help me with this Micro SD card idea...

So my Droid Xs came with 16 gb cards and in the 6 weeks I had my Motion I never got one for it.

I was thinking of getting a Sandisk Class 4 16 gb one for my Spirit and I want to be sure I understand correctly what I can and can't do with it it.

I CAN'T move apps to the SD unless I'm rooted, right?

I CAN set up music and notification folders on the SD and have all my pics go to the SD card, right? (16 g as I don't keep much music on the phone, just stuff I am cutting ringtones from. I stream most music I listen to on the Spirit.)

Prolly most importantly, I CAN backup straight to the SD, right?

What other important benefits am I forgetting if any?

Thank you in advance,

Bruce in Ocala, FL

No to moving apps to sd rooted or not so far. All pictures and music files on sd will be read by the device, don't think you can auto save to sd, pretty sure you gotta move them manually. The built in backup app allows you to save the back up file to sd or internal. The instant CWM we can use will save to internal, but can be moved to sd manually. I think the backup app is just as sufficient. Either way you slice it though Class4 mirco sd sandisk (name brand) is the way to go fo sho, you can't go wrong with an extra 16gigs of storage.. Do it!

pretty much every thing he said, though CWM can back up to external card just hit home.

I like class10 cards my self. 16gb is pretty good, you can fit a lot on there. i use my micro for backing up stuff, pod cast, video.,

One thing i like about the spirit is in the settings it allows you to use your own music for ringtones. On the esteem you had to move stuff to an internal ringtone file in order to use your own music.

It is however like that with notifications, you gotta push them over in order to get them to be usable. My connect was the same way though, had to push the files I wanted to use into the system, except I had to push them all. They wouldn't stick otherwise..

no LG has a + button in the soundnotification settings to add your own music. I have "Down with the sickness" for it.:D

I'm gonna need to look into that then..

Super awesome sir, I totally over looked that + at the top of the page.

lol i did to at first, and then i seen it in ringtones and thought hey whats that do? so then i went to notifications and see it there also.:p

I did just now notice that if you wanna use your personal tones as notifications in apps (i.e. Yahoo/Facebook/Twitter, etc.) you need to push them over into the notifications folder on the internal. There's no + option when your selecting tones in the apps mentioned above.

So there's no way even with root to move apps to Sd? I was told that using Link2sd would do the job.

There may be a way, I haven't dug too deep looking for one though. I'm sure if there was or when there is a way it'll be posted asap, apps2sd is a pretty big deal imo..
