Keep Note 2 or get nexus 4

So I got the note 2 a week ago on att. I do like the phone a lot. The battery life is great, and I like some of the features Samsung added. Though I am not a big fan of touchwiz. With that being said I just wanted to see what you guys thought about it, and how it compares to your nexus 4.

I am going into my second week with the note 2 and I am finding the size to not be a problem at all. I need to make a decision before this Saturday on keeping the note or not. Have any of you guys used both phone? If so what made you choose one over the other? Just want to see what advice you have for me.

I've never had the note 2 but I think the reason most of us got the nexus ⁴ was to get a great phone with out selling our souls to at&t or verizon.

If you can live with a contract I guess the note 2 is a good alternative to the nexus ⁴ though.

note 2 is a phablet! Probably optimal choice and ultimate tool for busy people. N4 is just a regular phone.. Not saying that n4 can't do all of those things that Note 2 does but these two in different categories.. That's what i think.

This ... they are completely different

if you got used to Note 2 in terms of functionality productivity and you find it pleasant to operate then N4 would be kinda like a step back and you will quickly find yourself limited

I was not reallh looking for a phone for business. I heard great things about the battery. And speed of the phone. The only reason I did not get the N4 was because I heard the battery was not very good. I prefer stock Android I have had the nexus s and Galaxy nexus. I just had the iphone 5 for 5 months and hated the battery life on top of iOS, so I was afraid the nexus 4 would be no better in terms of battery.

Be aware of what youre doing and come in with reasonable expectations. There is no reason the nexus ⁴ shouldn't last all day with moderate use though.

People just need to stop having ridiculous expectations from these phones...

The battery life isn't impressive on N4 i've had it for a week and i'm still confused by it's battery performance. To me there's simply no other phone that i would like to use except Nexus. I'll give it another week and if i'm not going to make clear conclusion on N4 battery i'll switch back to Gnex and buy a spare battery

Yea I mean I understand what kind of battery life a phone is going to get. I just heard the nexus 4 was worse than the gnex in terms of battery life. I just need something that will get me through the day. On average I am unplugged from the battery for about 15 hours and have screen time of about 4 1/2 hours. Is that a reasonable expectation for the nexus 4?

Under these circumstances I see no reason why not. Please note that the nexus has ridiculous stand by battery life. It last for multiple days on stand by for example (assuming notifications are kept at a reasonable level.)

Ok cool thanks for the info. Like I said I had the gnex and the battery life was not great so I am use to bad battery life. If I can get a normal days use out of it then it might just come into play. The only problem is the Google play store is saying 2-3 weeks before shipping on the 16gb model. That is a long time to wait if I had to return my note 2 this Saturday.

On March 7 I ordered both a 16gb (said 2-3 weeks) and an 8gb (said 1-2 weeks). The 16gb arrived yesterday, and I am still waiting for the 8gb to ship.

Ok well then it looks like they ship a little faster. That gives me more to think about. I am still very undecided.

I hated the note 2...and just an FYI, I owned the note 1 and really liked it!

I think the novelty of such a large device wore off after I got rid of my note 1 and switched to an HTC one x! At 1st I liked the huge display and all because I have some pretty big hands, but after a while it became a pain to carry such a big phone.

I tried rolling with the note 2 and just couldn't do it, went right back to my nexus 4 and have to say...I wouldn't switch my n4 even if the note 2 was free...lol

The software on the n4 is fantastic, it takes pretty good pics depending on who's taking them, build quality is fantastic, call volume is loud and clear, and the screen has become one of my favorites even besting my old personal favorite...Super Amoled!

So I'd have to say I'd take my n4 any day of the week over a note 2!

So was the screen size the biggest issue you had with the note 2?

So here is my thinking on each device:

Note 2- I keep it I get a super fast phone with Samsung features that are really useful, and then some Samsung features that can slow things down that are not so good. Also I get a huge 5.5 display that the novelty of may rub off in a couple of months. I also get a huge battery that has no issues getting through a day. Oh updates for the phone are dictated by Samsung and At&t not Google.

Nexus 4- I get stock android with fastest updates with all the features that come with it. I miss out on some of the OME features that are useful to me. I get a great 4.7 inch display. Not as big as the note, but it fits comfortable in my hand. Battery is not bad but not great. I think I could make it through the day on a charge. The biggest question I have about the nexus 4 is what if I get it and I can't get through a day on the battery, and I don't like it as much as I thought. Is there an option to return? I would like to try it out first.

There are options available for charging on the go. If you find you cant make it, you can always pick up an external charger. Most of them can pack 3-4+ full phone charges into them .

The size was one major factor, however once you really start digging in the software was just not of my taste anymore...TouchWiz that is!
Not that TouchWiz is all that bad, the problem is once you get used to stock vanilla android its really really tough to distance yourself away from it IMO.

Also when people start talking speed...Yes the note is speedy. But to be clear the n4 is no slouch...I have no lag & no issues to speak of. Do I miss at&t's LTE, yea sometimes...But for the most part T-mobile's HSPA+ network is plenty speedy for me when i'm not within Wifi range.

I have pretty much eliminated touchwiz with nova launcher. Of course the setting and things like that can't be changed, but all the cartoon looking icons and things are gone. I also still feel like touchwiz holds the note 2 back. It could be so much snapper to do things like the nexus 4 is. Like I said a lot of the features are super useful and I would miss them, but there is another hand full of them that are crap and add unneeded bloat that slows the experience down and adds lag. Like you said in terms of LTE it can make up for some of the lag because it make browsing and anything using data super fast. I am on AT&T as well, and if I got the nexus 4 I would keep AT&T. That would mean data speeds would be just ok if not average.

If you still have a Galaxy Nexus and have the latest JB version then in my opinion you may as well keep the Note2.

While the N4 is an excellent device, it doesn't add much to the features you will be used to on the Galaxy Nexus.

You should bear this in mind if you make the switch.

Yea I broke the sim tray in the gnex and want to get it fixed so I could switch phones if I wanted stock. The only problem is I think it is rather expensive to get it fixed. I have heard it could cost as much as what the nexus 4 is sold at.

Why dont you get a smaller phone like the N4 and turn on the Wifi and get the Note 8 which is coming out soon (or any other bigger device) and you come out far ahead and cheaper too.
