I tried this on my LG P769 and during the rooting process, it said "permission denied: Are you root?." This is my first root and I am completely lost on what I should do. I went through the instructions thoroughly and followed them and it did not root. If I try to root now, it gets stuck on "If all is successful, I will tell you, if not this shell will run forever." Anyone know what I can do?

Also is it better to unlock first then root or root and then unlock?
what was the exact steps that you did? I have the same phone and I want to root my phone but im really nervous about trying all the methods that I have researched, I tried it before with my old phone, samsung exhibit 2 and I messed up my girlfriend's laptop

I used to use link2sd. it worked great while I was rooted. But updated to 10g and lost root, and as far as I'm reading it's not looking like we'll be able to flash or root the p76910g anytime soon

Enable USB debugging, unistall or disable lookout, Download the attached RunMe_L9.txt but choose "save as" and change the extension to .bat Make sure your phone is on USB LG mode and the .bat extension you just created should be located in a file you create along with the three files from the link provided in the original post. double click the bat extension that says L9 and it will begin. Choose "restore my data" when prompted and press any key after the restore has finished.When it asks 1 or 2- choose 1. It will root by itself and reboot. Let us know if you have any other questions.

I am considering buying this phone soon, but will have it flashed to MetroPCS. If I were to root it and eventually install a custom rom, would a rom from this forum for the T-Mobile version work on my phone or will it erase the flashed portion?

I don't know the answer to your question but something you might want to consider is that if you order a new phone it will most likely come with the 10g software which can't yet be rooted. My Tmobile did anyway.

For the 10g, if someone could make a video for idiots like me, that would be awesome.
Sorry, i am not sure on that. I can only speak or the U.S. Lg L9 P769. Maybe someone else can chime in and help if they know.

Go to the thread and read it. As far as I remember it is supposed to work for all models and I thinnk the OP had did it with a phone that was P765. As far as I can see it shouldn't harm your phone either it works or not. But I am not responsible if it does. Go to the thread and read it and ask questions if you need to. The OP is a good helpful guy that will answer your questions.

I just bought this phone 3 days ago and really want to get rid of all this bloatware crap. I don't understand what is going on. Root Checker did that to me too I just rebooted the phone and it said I had root after that.

there isn't one. anyway, with the newer firmwares, this method is invalid. there is a new method over on xda that works with all firmwares.

Does anyone know if this works on software version P768f10e (australian version), I have jailboken many apple devices but this is my first crack at rooting an android device, dont wanna brick it as its my new phone!
Only false for 10g. Pay attention, this root method is for up to 10E only. Search the web for your 10g firmware root fix.

I have the same goals, but have a different problem. Running on Windows 7 here, and I can get it almost to the end, but I get the "are you root?" error. Help!
Just to let you know you can get tether free without root. I have root but ended up using a pdanet w/foxfi key torrent I found on http://kat.ph/pdanet-for-android-crack-t5643751.html. This app works great and my speeds run very high. You can install this on unrooted phones for free wifi and usb tethering. Hope you are knowledgeable about downloading a torrent or maybe just buy the app key. If you do the torrent way you just copy the files to your phone and install the apk files with the apk installer found in the playstore. Good luck!I have the same goals, but have a different problem.
