***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

I am at work so I've missed the last several pages of posts, but I thought I'd add my experience. I just called CS and told them I wanted to order the HTC Incredible.

Him: "You know you aren't eligible for an upgrade 'til next year, right?"
Me: "Yes, but my husband isn't eligible either and he's going to take my Eris and get me the Incredible."
Him: "Oh, niiiice!"
(For a minute there I thought it was going to fly but then...)
Him: "We don't have that phone yet."
Me: "Oh, I saw it on Facebook, I thought Verizon had posted it but maybe not. Do you know when it'll be available?"
Him: "Hold on, let me check." Then "May 18th."
(Insert tiny heart attack on my end here.) Then...
Him: "Oh, wait, sorry, it's the 29th."
Me: "Of this month?"
Him: "Yeah, April 29th."

And somewhere in a small room deep in the bowels of Verizon HQ the dreams of a young, enthusiastic system admin have been crushed as he is terminated for failing to properly secure a top secret web site......

I think this answers the age old question of "Does Verizon keep an eye/ear on what the internet community thinks and knows". It did not take them long to lock that site down.
"We, uh, we fixed the *glitch*. So he won't be receiving a paycheck anymore, so it'll just work itself out naturally."

here, here!

or is it...

hear, hear! :)

Definitely, thanks to all the GREAT contributors on this forum. Its my new heroine. . .

Definitely think we should have Droid Incredible Release parties in So cal - -

WHOS WITH ME?

lol

I'm thinking about having a pants party, anyone wanna come?

Say what you want but have we heard back from the OP for the stage.phones site? My intuition tells me that that NEWBIE poster was a plant. IDK. I said it the 1st time and I'll say it again. Those of us fortunate enough to be monitoring this thread for those few moments were being shown a glimpse by Verizon. What is the site that has broken every single piece of pertinent information about this phone? androidforums.com thats who. Thanks mystery poster for letting us in on your er um . . . "find".;)

Just say the article on the front page about April 29th release date confirmation and don't have time to read the thread right now, but just wanted to say...

WOOHOO!!! THAT'S INCREDIBLE NEWS!!!

They could've also been tipped off by their automated emailing system for the Incredible getting subscriptions.

Does anybody know by precedence how they will announce the phone? Do they usually hold a press conference, do they just put something up on the site?

Just called Verizon to ask about pre-ordering the Incredible. Was given typical answer of we don't know yet, but it's coming. I followed up with a question about being eligible for another upgrade in a year so I could get a 4g phone. The rep told me that the newer droid phones coming out such as the one you are asking about (strange he wouldn't say incredible, but told me that it was coming out) is capable of being upgraded to 4g capability when that comes to Verizon and all you have to do is hit *228, send then option 2. I haven't heard of this before, is this correct and if this has already been answered, a thousand apologies.

Iiiiiiinteresting. This idea has been discussed before. As I recall, it was dismissed due to the fact that FCC clearance would be needed, and that wasn't present in the FCC filing. I just thought of a question though: Can you amend/re-pass FCC stuff? Basically what I'm getting at (and feel free to punch a hole in my theory) is this:

Verizon/HTC pop an LTE radio inside the phone and firmware disable it. We know they've done that before with GPS chips (glares at phone). Now, say LTE is about to rollout. Verizon/HTC file an amendment of some sort to the Incredible, get it passed by the FCC, and *228 re-enables the radio. Boom. Droid Incredible 4G.

This was a planned leak and i would bet the farm on that...this whole time it has been leaks and verizon minions. Its been an underground viral thing from the get go and it has worked!
Agreed. It's amazing the buzz they've been able to build without actually having to spend any money, beyond paying for time of a few internal employees.

Yes, that's how I got my Storm 1.. in fact they called me and offered it to me before release and before my NE2 was up.

When I preorder does that guarantee that I get it on release day? Or does that simply mean I paid for it early?
