Root Bootloop, don't know how to fix.

I have 4ext. I tried flashing a CM10 rom(yes I know im dumb and they don't work) and realized they don't boot. Thats okay so when I go to restore one of my two MIUI backups the phone is stuck in a bootloop. First HTC device and im dumbfounded on how to fix this. I can access 4ext fine.

Cm10 works fine if you're S-OFF and have downgraded your hboot to something other than 1.57 or 1.58. Try formatting all partitions in 4ext. (Except sdcard) and then reboot recovery from the power menu. Then restore your nandroid.

^ anyone have any ideas? its not a simple fix wiping does nothing. I really need my phone working. I have tried everything that would have fixed my samsung intercept or my optimus V if it was ever in a bootloop.

You can flash a sense based ROM through 4ext or restore a backup, But you need a PC to fix this issue.

1.) Extract the ROM zip you have flashed in 4ext and look for boot.img.
2.) Copy boot.img to your folder where you keep your fastboot.exe file.
3.) Hook up your phone to your PC through USB and boot into the bootloader and make sure it shows Fastboot USB in red. If it doesnt, Select fastboot.
4.) Open up a command prompt window by pressing ctrl+shift and right clicking in the folder where fastboot.exe is located and issue the following command without quotes.

"fastboot flash boot boot.img"

5.) Wait for it to send the boot image, It should say success or failed. If it succeeds, Reboot your phone, And you should be good to go! It may take a few minutes for your ROM to settle.

You can run the RUU if you'd like, and that will return you to 100% stock. If you still wan to try the CM10 ROM, you may do that after you obtain S-OFF. If you just want to go back to stock, stop after the RUU.

gothics fix did not work, anymore ideas before I have to flash a RUU? Don't have the tools for s-off atm.

What tools are you missing? RUU is the surefire fix.

One other thing that I don't think anyone's asked is... are you wiping all partitions except SD card before you try to restore your backups?

If wiping everything and restoring a known-good nandroid is not working, you'll need to go through the RUU process. It takes 10 minutes at most.

yeah thats the fastest way to fully wipe with 4ext.

Awesome, would highly recommend S-OFF when you have the time & the tools (paperclip, computer, phone, and USB cable) handy. It will let you flash the ROMs that you're wanting.

It has to be locked or relocked to run an ruu.

Every manufacturer has their respective quirks, Samsung you have to flash the recovery and kernel at the same time, LG's bootloaders are almost as bad as Motorola The only phone that I've owned that was ridiculously easy was the Triumph and that's only because they released it before it was finished, it was left in a dev state where it was practically factory rooted, it was so bad that they still had development logs being collected, to the point that you ran out of internal storage and had to factory reset the phone every 4-6 months or root the phone to remove them. Bottom line is that it's never "easy", one way or another.

Can't RUU on 1.58 HBOOT (that's a big reason why I was suggesting S-OFF to you)

Ive gotten out of ROM bootloops by flashing the boot.img from the original ROM zip... Ive never had to do an RUU even when I was s-on.

If he's S-ON that won't be possible with hboot 1.58 installed.

My suggestion would be to try starting your recovery with the following fastboot command:

fastboot boot recovery.img <-- the name of the recovery file you flashed to root

Then format all partitions except your SD card and make sure SmartFlash/S-ON is disabled in the tools menu if using 4EXT, and re-flash the ROM.

You won't be able to boot anything but ICS Sense based ROM's with the 1.58 hboot so don't even try to flash GB or JB based ROM's.

Problem is that the Triumph was just branded as a Motorola, most are next to impossible to root because of the cryptographically signed bootloader, alot of the newer phones you can't unlock it and your only choice is to run an app that allows you to use a second bootloader along side the uncrackable version, not exactly ideal.
