Just bought one of these today after my favorite CM7-M860 did a 1-1/2 gainer smack dab, screen-first onto the metal leg of my cave chair! :-( So wanted the GS3, but couldn't justify the bucks to wifey... Soooo, settled for this new Huawei beastie instead as my trusty M860 was such a soldier for so many years.
So, first impression... WOW, fast little sucker - but then I've been on an M860 for so long it's not really a fair assessment I think. However, I also do have Comcast Blast-Plus on the Desk and I gotta admit the idea of poppin on the hotspot and dumping the $100+/mo. Comcast bill has been gnawin at my cranium something fierce!!! But, again, this 4GLTE is still new so I've decided to let it brew a bit before makin any hasty decisions.
Google/Gmail setup was done in seconds, literally, txt/pic messaging is no longer a tap-n-wait affair. Calls are clear and loud (but one call from wifey's sammy 2G {yes, you read that correctly, '2G'!!! She's like stuck on stupid with that damn old-a#$ed phone} had this annoying echo-ey, feedback-like feint popping going on in the background. Didn't seem to matter when switching speaker-phone on or off, either. She mighta been driving (bad wifey) when she called, too, so chock it up to anomaly as it hasn't happened again in 7-8 calls. Camera/picture quality is real nice and video recording is pretty decent, too. Shot a 2 minute vid of the four ankle biters either running from or trying to devour my new toy and attached it to a txt and presto! my youngest daughter had it seconds later on her Verizon iPhone 5! She txt back 'Nice vid, Pops. How'd you do that on your old piece of junk?' Teenagers, huh? Sceen is really responsive with no semi-dead spots (ala, M860 and the 'P' key and lower edge-residing neighbors.
So when playtime was over and i hadda give some serious thought to securing this thing I went directly to web through the default browser (Chrome) and DL'ed Avast mobile and again this was all done in tens of seconds (seriously impressive imho), but (yup, here it comes) couldn't get 'all' the anti-theft features to work due to not having root priv's! Yea, not really the phone's fault bein new and all and so thought I'd pop on over here and check the status of root-ability and well, here we are, lol, waiting. If i had more time and knowledge...
So, yea, from a professional level user this phone is pretty damn nice for your 'everyday use' and associated tasks. Will report more as it happens and so on.
One last note: the Metro-bate of $49.00 is 'only' for new phone/customer/activations! The $15.00 phone number transport is in effect and if you can tell the right joke and get the little hottie working the counter to smile you might get the coupon for the 'as-yet-unavailable' rubber metro-phone-cover gratis!!! Going back inna week for mines - The rubber cover, i mean, lol!!! X
